okay, radio battery questions... two 2S 4000 lipos or two 3S 2500 lipos for servos? also, what discharge rate should I look for (15c, 20c, etc). I am ready to order batteries for the 104 not thought if I got a 3S I may not need as large of a pack. The voltage will be regulated to 8 volts input...

okay, bring on the comments

kind of depends on the regulator. I use Smart Fly so I use 2S lipos as that is what it says to use

Oh and is that your Viper?

I would get the 3s batts but go a little bit bigger, maybe to the low 3000s. More flights and the 104 is not going to feel it at all.

Hosam,

I'm going to use 2 Gen's Ace 2S 25C 3300's, 7oz ea. I bought 4 so I can swap them out and keep flying while I recharge. Should be good for quite a few flights between charges.

I would stick with 2S, it'll be more than enough power. No need to add extra weight and an extra pt of failure with a regulator IMO.

I started using the Gens's Ace brand after a member here (Losifanatic) recommended them for my electric planes. I was leary because of the price but they've been outstanding so far and you can charge at 5C.

Wait! No one wants to suggest a LiFe pack (A123)? Solid pack, doesn't lose voltage fast on the tail end of capacity. I like the 6.6 3300, probably good for at least 5-7 flights and they hold a charge in the hanger very well!

i went with 3s 2100mah and two bec pros on my 104 slick you get a nice consistent voltage i get a solid 8 flights at about 30% left in the packs. i read a while about running 3s i think it was KM's 104 build where he talked about it running that setup

Yeah that's what I'm doing also 3s lets me regulate to 8V for the full capacity of the battery. With 2s it's only above 8V for a small portion of the discharge. 2s however, is better if you're regulating to a lower voltage.

If you are using 3s then setting it to 8v will be fine. If it is 2s then 8v will be to high since the battery is only at 8.4 when it is at full charge.
