Sad. My best wishes to her family.

This is horrible.

Rep. Giffords was one of the few who lent the efforts of her office to help RCAPA's effort to address the follies of the FAA regarding the use of Slow Stick type model aircraft for commercial aerial photography.
While I do not share her political views in many areas She is (was ) a delightful, charming and reasonable woman.
She earned extra points in my book when she brought a bill to the house proposing a 5% pay cut for Congress last year. (It was voted down).

Who gets to name the replacement?

Rep. Giffords leaves a husband (Iraq war Veteran I believe) and two children.

Sadly I am surprised this has not happened already what with the "second amendment remedies" and TeeVee/Radio hate talk being pumped out.

Takes real courage to shoot an un-armed woman in the head...perhaps the shooter will be found to be mentally un-balanced. I hope so and that this turns out to be a one off act by a crazy person.

I believe I know one of them personally.

My sympathies to her, her family, the killed and injured and their families.
