New Product
3.7g Metal gear micro servo from HK (Available now for ~$22)

HobbyKing showed this photo last year on their Plixi future product page. It seems to be one of the smallest metal gear servos to date. Does anyone know who makes it or if it is available somewhere?

edit: I've corrected the weight in the title.

Its very small! would be even better with jst connectors to use with AR6300 or the Flydream 1 gram Rx.

Way cool I hope they aren't too spendy either. I also hope they sell replacement gears I'd think you could make some really small gear drive with them.

Oh finally! A servo with an integrated connector. I modify my servos that way sometimes, it makes so much more sense to have fixed servo wiring in the airframe and simply plug in replacement servos without having to re-route wires around.

I wonder how much plastic gears and a smaller motor would lighten it...

Already exists. 2.2g weight. Get it here: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=12907

2.2g servo stall torque: 0.2 kg.cm
3.7g metal gear servo torque: 0.9 kg.cm

The 2.2gram servos doesn't like 5V, they overshoot a lot at voltages higher than 1S. Hopefully the metal gear servo will be okay on 5V.

Thanks a bunch! I've missed out on that one.

HobbyKing just listed the servo. Rather expensive though...

It seems to have been developed back in 2009. Interesting article here: http://www.roboteshop.com/blog/?p=62

$22 is actually not bad compared to the retail price of $35 at other shops.

Specification:
Operating Speed: 0.12 sec/60 (4.8V)
Voltage Range: 3~4.8v
Stall Torque: 0.9 kg/cm (4.8V)
Gear Type: Metal + Aluminum-magnesium alloy Gears
Weight: 3.7 g
Connection: Standard JR Servo Plug. (Huge connector FAIL in my opinion. Anything smaller or no connector at all would have been better.)

Warning, never turn the servo arm by hand:
