Also will you be offering the 35mm fan complete with motor?

I have been in touch with Hu (AEORC) - he would like me to test some of these small EDFs for him, but I keep repeating the common thought... we need adapters to safely secure these high rpm impellers to the motor shafts... as we all know, motor shafts, on tiny motors as highly stressed as these are, are going to heat up... the plastic softens... and voila!... there is an impeller whistling past your head.

And that is precisely why I don't have one yet. No adapter, no go for me.

Exactly my current frustration. I'm at the point of shelling out the $$$s for a KP32 unit for the peace of mind. I'll be getting the stated thrust with no drama. The unit itself weights more, but you save overall with lighter ESC and bat requirement. Come one AEORC, do the right thing.

I'm also still waiting for the 40mm fan adapters. Very frustrating. I'm thinking of just forgetting about the 40mm and getting the smaller sizes...

The adapters on the elemodel site are simply GWS adapters.

For the smaller rotors use GW/ADP001.

If you all suck it up and spend the 2.50 for the smaller one from somewhere else until elemodel gets some in (if it happens), you can get on with building, testing or experimenting.

If shipping sucks from any of the above stores - email them for a better deal. epyaya has done so for me several times.

Thank you Kiwi.

We use adapters for ducted fans that more than 35mm diameter.

In order to make the micro ducted fans lighter,we did not use the adapters for 27,30,35mm ducted fans.As you know,lighter is good for balance.

We made the head of the motor shafts rough, controlled the allowance and quality inspection.

Hi NitroCharged... you Aussies are pretty clever sometimes!

I have some of those 001's but did not realize that they might suit an EDF impeller. They are not long enough to go all the way through an GWS EDF40 impeller hub... but can you simply thread them into the 1mm hole down the middle? Maybe they go all the way through a 30mm impeller hub so that you can use a lock nut?

Cheers, Kiwi!

Fred(Freddie_B) posted what most of us do for 40mm rotors if we use the adapter and that is to drill out some of the center plastic so the adapter thread will protrude through the front of the rotor:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...77&postcount=6

This can be done to any of GWS's rotors, and also AEO's. Here I have done it to a GWS 30mm rotor, but you have to drill out the hole to 1.5mm too.

ELEMODEL has the 40mm EDF adapters listed.

I have given up on getting the new 35mm and 27mm units now. It is just too d**n expensive...

AEO:
27mm = $14.60 x2 = $29.20
35mm = $13.80 x2 = $27.60
EMS shipping = $15.95
total = $72.75

ELE:
27mm = $9.90 x2 = $19.80
35mm = $9.50 x2 = $19.00
EMS shipping $29.00
total = $67.80

And the A-10 is listed for $129.00. I guess I'll work at improving my SCRATCH Building skills.
