Reichard Magic ALES-LMR-F5J 2.0m under 20oz AUW

Gents:

The MAGIC has arrived. Beautiful piece of engineering and building skills.
Our first shipment just came in
There are quite some very interesting changes when compared to the MAXX.
1) Tail Feathers: not built-up but made of single pieces of balsa wood with
hole cutouts to make it lighter
2) Newly designed fuselage pod. Shorter in length. 2 screws will hold the wing
with 2 aluminum pins to secure the wing LE against the fuselage.
3) Slightly longer tailboom.
4) No more pushrods. Spring loaded rudder and elevator handled by a single kevlar line.
5) No more battery/servo box. Only a half moon servos holder.

Overall we're very impressed, to say the least..!!

this version looks really better!

everything wich was not so good une the MAXX (in my case ) is now corrected. lighter and longer tail and shorter noise!!!!

in mine, even with the very heavy pushrod, i had to put 8gr in my tail to get the CoG. and except the motor, everything are under the wing (RX, LIPO, ESC, altimeter, servos.....

so the magic must be better. more surface, less weight and better balanced...

actually, with my motor configuration, i'm really not enjoyed of the climb:

and hyperion 2S 900mah lipo 45C
ESC hyperion Atlas 35A
motor hyoperion GS2213-16 (around 70gr)
prop Aeronaut 13x8, 12,5x6,5 and also 14x6, but it's still difficult for me to reach 200m in 30s....

can someone can help me to choose another 2S motor???

Can anyone offer comments (based on experience, not opinion!) about the choice of servos for the MAXX? I have a kit, and I am trying to figure out what servos to use.
It looks like it was designed for D47 and possibly D60 servos. Esprit suggests HS45, which may fit, although they look a little too thick for the ailerons.

My concerns here are
1) adequate torque for control during climb
2) gears strong enough to not break under normal use.

My usual flying fields have well maintained grass, so that is all the flaps are likely to catch on.

In my Maxx, I use the HS45HB servos for the flaps only (because these take the most beating) and they're about 1mm too thick for the wing. I use D47's for the ailerons, rudder, and elevator and they haven't failed me (yet). I think you should be more concerned about servo torque during high speed descents, not the relatively slow climbs. I think VS-12's are a good choice too for the ailerons and may be a safer choice than the D47's.

Did anyone ever figure out the appropriate downthrust/sidethrust for the MAXX. My model arrived with the nose cut for about 4 degrees of downthrust AND I found I have about 0.5 degrees between the wing saddle and the top of the tail boom. I realize that can be adjusted a bit by sanding the rear of the fuselage to adjust how it fits into the boom.. but what is the correct angle? I contacted Esprit Models, and got a much-less-than-helpful response, essentially 'set it all straight and fix it with trim'. Thoughts, anyone? Experiences?
