There are several kinds of vinyl that can be printed on. You need special equipment though... The tail of my 737 was done in that way

Aircraft

Hey Ming,

Where do you get your side views for the aircraft, or do you make them.

I'm after the views for the RAAF 2SQN Wedgetail.

Thanks

737

Hi guys! I just ordered my 737 kit and looking forward to flying one of these jets. I also have the A380 from HK finished in Quantas Airlines so this one will be adding to my fleet. Ming, send me a good one please! Thanks for all your support on here. I have been reading this thread alot and seems that you support the hobby much better than most kit makers.

I have not decided what airline to make the 737 yet. I ordered the basic kit with retracts and plan to install the following:

2x Delta-V 15 69mm EDF Unit (EFLDF15)
2x BL15 Ducted Fan Motor, 3600Kv (EFLM3015DF)
2x 50A Controllers
1x 5000ah 3cell batt (I also have several 2350ah 4c batts) thinking I could run two if needed.

Will this set up work ok?

Thanks for all the great setup info on here!!!

Your power system is perfect!
3S is good enough.

Nice!!

Fill me in on how you glassed the airframe. I have one on order and was thinking of glassing it as well. How did you do it?

Thanks!!

well what I did is call Polyglassing , which is a simpler way
of covering foam , it keeps the model from getting the hanger
rash /small dings and dent's and can be made to give a glass like finish

what it is is miniwax Water based Polycrylic and tissue (silkspan)

That looks easy enough to complete. My only question is once completed. What paints can be used? Am I still limited to only paint that will not eat foam?

What paints are you guys using? On my A380, I painted with Plasticote from Lowes, but could not mask off anything without lifting the first layer of paint back off. Makes it hard to get a great finish if you can't paint more than one color. Looking for ideas???

Thanks!!!

once polyglassed you could use most paints ,I used water based
paints
as far as masking , no problem the undercoat will not lift
below is my dc-3 done the same way - I painted the white then
the blue and got clean lines with no lifting or peeling.same with the
silver and the black on the wings.

tamiya, testor's or other will work but on a large model ,I used
the latex(water based) sample from home depot $2.99 for a large
jar and they will match any color

I am not suggest to use 10000mAh battery.
This is too heavy for take off, flying and especially landing.
Please use max 3300mAh X 2 pcs or one pcs 5000mAh.

Thanks Pulsery2k1!! That's great info. I will give the polyglass a try on my 737. I don't care for the foam look and really hate hanger rash and dinks on my planes. Great Info and thanks!

SWA 737 Update

ALL 737 Fans,

Here are some pictures of my Southwest airlines 737. Due to some last minute radio problems my maiden may once again have to be rescheduled.

But in the meantime enjoy the pix. NOTE: The dark "smudging" at the aft fuselage joint is really a slight difference in the thickness of the gloss topcoat. It looks much nicer in person.
