Regarding the thinner: is the box made of the same material as the plane? Maybe the box is just normal foam. Will make a test with cyano tonight.
Yesterday I was able to take the afternoon off and made some big progress. After doing all the detail work and mods I finally I see parts coming together. I glued the nacelles to the wing and joined the wing halves. Then I glued the fuselage parts together. Work still to do: - Vinyl the fuselage - Connect all light cables to the controller - Wire the ESCs - Make covers for landing lights - Glue vertical and horizontal stabs - Install receiver and battery Received my 6S, 5000 mAh Lipo last week. Nice surprise was that it was 200 gr lighter than announced. Theoretic AUW now at 3700 gr. Promising. I plan to maiden the plane Sep. 8th. Jurgen

That is a little harsh, dont you think?
I have been following this thread since Sergey told me he had 737 kit on the way; that was January 2011. Since then, I have seen Ming take a very active role in helping people online... myself included |

The box is made from standard foam, whereas the plane is EPO. EPO is more expensive than standard foam, so there is no point to make the box from expensive material. That's why the box reacts differently to solvents than the plane.

While waiting for the spackle to dry I thought I would create a window seat for a camera. Now I have a window seat on each side to maximise the view.
All that is left now is to sand the filler, glass and then paint. Should be painted bt Wednesday. |

Looks like most everybody has tested the box material already. Made my cyano and thinner test yesterday myself and can confirm that the box is being eaten by both.
Strange enough the material of the fuselage while not being dissolved is still being attacked by the laquer thinner I have. I tested it on the inside and the surface gets more porous like when you apply too much heat during covering. The boundaries between the foam spheres become more evident. Will definetly not wipe the fuselage with this thinner. Actually I haven't done anything to the wings before covering and the vinyl sticks perfectly. Hope to get the fuse covered this weekend.
