I re-read the earlier posts where everybody was discussing wheel size, and yes, 1-1/2" front and 2" mains was the consensus. I went out on a limb and ordered Scale alloy hub rubber wheel, the 2" and 1-1/2" size.

Thanks for the edf install tips Derek.
I have had my 737 for about 6 months now and still haven't started the build.
I have a few projects going at once for myself, my son and a couple of my club mates.
Hope to get to the 737 very soon now.

Hi all,

regarding wheel and tire sizes.
In mine I'll have full scale tire sizes which means:
main tire is dia 65mm
aux tire is dia 40mm

Btw. yesterday I got the gear covers for aux gear running.

Markus,

If 65mm (about 2-1/2") is the right number, that's what I want. I swear I read the earlier builds where using 2". Rats, I just ordered four of the 2". Ming's wheels are about 2-1/8". How did you know 65mm is correct scale? I totally forgot that I have the scale CAD file directly from the Boeing website - I should open that and measure.

Do you have any details or photos of how you did the front gear doors?

Derek,

somewhere in this thread it is said that windriders 737 is scale 1:17.
737-700 original has main tires are 44.5 inch
and aux tires are 27.7 inch.
Multiplying these by 2.54 (to have cm) and divided by 17 is main 66.5mm
and aux 41.4mm.

Inspired by Spyro I took the gear cover of FMS Trojan and cut it to scale.

I love it! The actual tire specs!! That's what so awesome about these forums.

I read the scale was 1:18. Either way, the main wheels would be 2-1/2". I'm going to jump onto Hobby King and see if I can cancel my 2" order. I don't like airliner models with puny looking wheels.

The scale CAD drawing from Boeing was no help on the wheel diameter - they measure too small. Wheel diameter was not the main purpose of those particular CAD drawings anyway.

Looks like it's too late to cancel my order for the 2" wheels. Oh well, wasted $12. Now I have to find another airplane to build that needs some nice 2" wheels .

I'll put them on when I get them and see how they look then decide. Easy enough to swap later.

That is a nice jet! Could the Change Sun 70 mm shroud fit in there? I still want "swoosh" only. It looks like maybe the stock shrouds are integral with some kind of structure that goes to the fuselage, thus you are stuck with the stock shrouds?? If stuck with stock shrouds, what's the motor can diameter? Others have shaved down the CS 70mm 10 blade rotor to fit 64mm shrouds.

One good idea often leads to another..... I noticed the landing light kit for that jet could work for the 737. Probably just need to extend the wires.

I also found this gear door sequencer at HK as an option to the one Spyro is using.

the executive jet

http://www.hobby-lobby.com/executive_jet_2295_prd1.htm

uses 68 mm fans , that are bolted to a wood mount were a
70 mm would probly fit - the extra weight would effect balance
and the stock fan's and recomended motors work well more
then enough power

At over $100....that is way too pricey! I think the system from Dimension Engineering runs a bit less????
