Pat is correct. I am also using two Thunder power 3800 mAh 3 cells. And a LiFe receiver battery.

Rick, Very Nice job on the SWA! How much flight time are you getting? I am running the same power plants as you on my Continental and when we maiden it we only got 2:30mins so I am looking to maybe go 4s on the DHL to get more flight time. Also I am only using 1 3s 4000mAh.

Have not had a chance to recharge the the packs to see how much gets put back in, but I suspect my two 3800's should outlast your one 4000. My all up weight with my set up is 7 lbs 5 oz.

I do believe my plane weighs in at 7lb also. Maybe I will try and use (2) 3s 4000mAh then. But thanks for the response Rick. Please keep me posted when you charge your lipos Thanks again. Nice Job on the SWA!

My wife used Tamiya paints for the DHL$7.00 a can and you only get a 100ml. Not worth the price. I would recommend using something cheaper. She used a lot of cans and it adds up. I don't thinks she primed the fuse before she started painting so maybe that's the reason it started to lift when we tried to redo the decals. I would prime it 1st though. I will prime my 3rd kit before I paint it.

Referencing the discussion on a Castle BEC vs. separate battery pack, I noticed swarick went with a LIFe RX battery. Rick, what LIFe RX battery did you use and why did you go with a separate battery route?

I still can't get my mind wrapped around the BEC and despite weight, am still leaning to a separate RX battery.

Doug,
I started using separate receiver packs or BEC's a while back on any airplane with more than 4 servos. Let's say I don't trust the ESC to provide the power to my receiver. On my 737 I am using a Hyperion 1700 mAh LiFe pack with no voltage regulator. This battery provides about 6 volts to my receiver and servos, and have yet to run into any servo or electric retract that cannot handle that.

Gary, I have not made any parts yet but they are coming. As soon as I get first batch and it looks good I will let you know!

Rookie, the painting and decals look superb! I agree on the paint. I tried Testor's and very quickly realized I'll be broke before painting is done. I switched to cheap acrylic paint from Michael's crafts store diluted with Windex and Acryl floor finish and it flew exceptionally well through an airbrush. And cost is 50c a bottle with huge selection of colors.

I am using Castle CC. The main reason is weight of Rx battery.

Sergey Thank you, but Most of the wok was done by my wife. I tried to apply the decals but it did not turn out so good , so she had to fix them. I will definitely try Michael's next time thanks.
