this x3. That's almost a shotgun stance. Dont know how much experience you have, but google weaver and isosceles stances. They are the two main pistol shooting stances.

Just some friendly advice, When you lean forward with your arms out your arms are now raised at an angle, and thus restricting blood flow and your arms will tire faster. Stand straight, feet slightly closer and I think you will find that more comfortable.

I would suggest visiting either XDtalk.com or 1911forum.com and talk about guns there... That's what I do - great advice, great guys, and great gun pics / info...

thanks for the comments and suggestions this was my second time shooting, so i am stilll new to all this, but its like flying a plane its only gonna get easier in time

i am seriously thinking about picking up a shotgun for home protection
my wife was also practicing with me shes the one that really is going to use it (hopefully never) because i work nights, i think she did better than me, i guess i better not piss her off

Ed, the others have given good advice... now for my 2 cents worth

Learn to round count early on... in both videos your trying to fire an empty weapon when you should be reloading

Trigger control! it's very pronounced in the shotgun video when you dry fire it... you pulled the snot out of the trigger... when you jerk/pull the trigger to hard you're MISSING the target.

Last but not least... take your time! even when under the pressure of defending your life it does NOT matter how many rounds when down range or how fast... the ONLY one's that count are the one's that hit their mark. In most cases, gun fights are ENDED with one well placed shot

Lastly... I'd MUCH rather have a rifle or shotgun if I'm going to get in a gun fight. HOWEVER, in the case of home protection unless you train hard a long gun is much more difficult to use in the close quarters of an average home. You''ll find presenting from cover more difficult with a long gun, firing from a retention position is not as easy, tight/narrow corners present a HUGE problem and more. Because of this, I personally feel a hand gun with a good flashlight or even better a weapon light are better suited for the average person in home protection.

Money pit is right!

#1 bit of advice i can give you is to relax when shooting, use a comfortable grip on the gun and dont kill the trigger. Its money well spent to take a shooting class.

#2 a pistol is the best weapon for home defense and if a lady is the operator a 38 revolver would be my choice. You can count on them firing when you pull the trigger, and they (when clean) will never jam. If your worried about running out of ammo you need only to spend more time at the range.

#3 auto's have a slide that cycles when firing. If you have the nose of the barrel shoved into someone gut and the slide gets pushed back even a bit it will not fire. a non issue with a revolver

You’re not throwing a baseball "Pistol stance" Feet equal lengths not one in front of the other. Knees slightly bent. Try your stance and check you sweep to the right then left without moving your feet. You will have a 30 degree loss of target on one side with your stance. also you are poised to run in one direction and not both.
I could also knock you over with 2 fingers in that stance from behind.
