Flap settings

David,

I have 2 settings

7mm down for @ 15 degrees of flap and
15mm down for 30 degrees of flap this give a balanced on my DX 8 where I can select Up, 15, and 30.

That is working well. my favorite is 15 degrees.

You might need to increase your elevator throw to get a good nose high control to flair for landing.

Good Plane

Hello,
I just got this airplane and i did my first flight today. I used all the airfeld equipment, i bought the rtf version. The plane flights really nice and has alot of power. The only down i found it was that when i was flying the plane more than 150 ft. away i would suddenly loose power for like 1 second and then it would come back. I didn't have any bad incident, but i will have to look into that issue. Ill propably contact the manufacture incase they know what it is.

do you guys think i would be able to fly this after flying the dynam i can fly? i do have the plane and i will be using a dx6i and 6ch orange rx/satellite w/ a separate rx 6.6v battery. im using the rx battery from now on b/c i cant trust the esc bec with the orange rx/sat since i lost contact with my dynam i can fly (i think it was a brownout with the stock esc/bec). anyways just wondering if you guys think i can fly this now, after flying the i can fly for awhile.

I am not sure how much dihedral the Dynam has, but if you are comfortable with 4 channel and landing with just a bit of speed (the Cessna is heavier) you should be just fine. The Cessna is a baby in the air. A good way to practice this with your Dynam is landing at 1/8 throttle or just not dead sticking your landings.

If your Dynam is self correcting you will need to be aware that the Cessna will not, meaning it will stay where you put it last, so if you bank right it will keep banking (and slowly tighten that bank) until you give it left input to counter.

Other than that I think its a great next step up from the Dynam. See the thread mods on the front landing gear (you might as well order that right off the bat) and I have 3" Dubro light wheels o mine which make grass landings a breeze.

My .02

Are you talking about the lipos that run your tx? 5c?

Anyway, in a Sky Trainer, I run a 3s 2200mah or a 2,650 Nano-Tech with 25c.

I keep the throttle @ about 60-70% for most of the flight. I do a few tight, low flybys @ WOT and then zoom back up at 45% just for fun. Then I bring it in with my DX6i timer set at 6-minutes, just to be safe.

Congrats on your maiden!

5c for the rx battery that i use w/ the ar600. i use a 30c 2200mah blue lipo or the 25c 2200mah stock battery

i like sense of security w/ the brown out minimizing rx battery, working great and barely weighs anything

Bought an ARF a short while back. It seems there is no ideal place for the receiver. Where are you guys placing it?

Will be a while for the maiden. Still winter-ish here in Michigan.

there is a pretty good size thread on this and various other versions of this airplane on the Beginning Electric Aircraft thread. For me, I have the V4 and put the receiver behind the rear seats. I took that cardboard wiring conduit out to give me more room to work with. I used the zipties to manage the wiring so it did not look so bad

i'm using an ar600. the wires come down from the vertical tube and straight into the servo plugs (the tail light, elevator, and rudder cords go up into the vertical tube also to plug in). so the ar600 is in the little gap right underneath the vertical tube opening. if that doesnt make sense i can take a picture.

I stalled mine in the middle of the two doors. There is the battery door and the servo door in the rear, their is a small gap in between those two doors and thats were i stalled it. Just remember to leave the signal wire outside.

I have the AR6115e receiver for this airplane. Everyone seems to do the mounting a bit different. I wanted to be able to see from up top when the receiver is powered up properly (steady orange light...no flashing). Only down side with this set up, is to get at it, I would need to remove the wing. Hope that I wont need to do that!
