The other thing i liked was those big dia, rope like, strands of copperwire showing

hehe sounds like the crowd enjoyed it too :-)
China vs German Outrunner (and yes,i know Scorpion was designed in germany, but that just does not matter to me)...but the big thing about the Pyro is the weight,it will blow you away at it's size and how light it is in your hands.

It looks mean ay-equvelent to f1 in brushless motors!
Lite weight was one of the things that swung me to,lite is gd.
I was thinking about machining the front for a smaller spinner to let more air thou, but don't think i will,40mm spinner...also maybe no warrenty if ya do that much to it?

Voodoo - how much does your pyro weigh? Stats say 180g. Scorpion 3026 is 190g.

Heres a comparison between the pyro 400 1400kv and the Scorpion 3026 1900kv :
on 4S Lipo (14,8 Volt ) both with a APC 7x10

Scorpion HK 3026-1900 / Kontronik Pyro 400:

23120 rpm / 20404 rpm
Torque: 2322 gramm / 1792 gramm
Vpitch: 354 km/h / 311 km/h
Current: 96,2 Amp. / 65,8 Amp.
1324 Watt / 973 Watt
Efficency: 83,5% / 82,9 %

on 5S Lipo ( 18 Volt ) both with a APC 7x10

Scorpion HK 3026-1900 / Kontronik Pyro 400:

27043 rpm / 24019 rpm
Torque: 3158 gramm /2488 gramm
Vpitch: 412 km/h / 366 km/h
Current: 130 Amp. / 91 Amp
2339 Watt / 1624 Watt
Efficency: 80,3 % / 80,1%

War machine,

The Hk 3026 is also a very powerfull choice, but its got the problem that bell or shaft are too flexible so magnets touch stator in tight F5d-style corners.

The Hk3026-1900 does not offer the option of 6S with standard props.

The HK3026 1400 seem to have, compared to the minipyro, less efficiency.

An other option would be the Hk 3226 1400 10 pole or 1600 6 pole, both have had compared to the 3026 a better efficiency but would add some mm diameter and about 40g.

Regards
Yello

Anyone winding with square wire? After all it comes down to haveing as much copper as possible, not in which shape. Square would fill the gap better then a round one

efficiency data ?

Hi WAR machine, where did you get the efficiency data from?

I have checked several motors on specified internal resistance and zero load current..
Don''t believe them, e-flight or Castle calculator motor data for example are very optimistic.
Scorpion calculator same thing.

I never measured a PYRO though, so I can''t say anyhthing about these.

Ri you simply measure by driving 1A through 2 motor wires, and measure dV across the terminals. typically 20 mV at 1A = 20 mOhm..

Io is even more simple, spin it without a prop and measure current.

Square wire... Whow.. really cool.

I''ll remember that.

Trapezoid would fit even better in our stators..

My 3026 weights in at over 200 grams, not sure were you got your weight from...and trust me when i tell you, when mounting an outrunner on the Swist, you do not want to go heavy,it will make the balance impossible, and i have my RX,BEC,and RX lipo in the back of the plane with the elev servo....and right now my plane is a bit nose heavy, but it is doable...and YELLO covered the rest.

That seems a shame, I'd love to pay for someone to rewind my 4020. Looks like these guys would do a terriffic job. Only in "exceptional circumstances" it seems though. Your thoughts Yello?

Force it if it does'nt fit-but in this case i don't want to be touching the sides

I dont think its about americans or australians, most of the winding-artist are a bit
"special" and not interested in standard usual stuff, you have to challenge them with something unique.

square or round

Don''t be too disappointed if you can''t get square wire.
With right size round wire and some effort you can get the same fill I think.
The square wire will be hard to fit in the triangle stator slot.
You can see it is also not filled to the top.

I managed 40% more than standard scorpion as well.
Had to push the wire in with a plastic sleeve while the epoxy was curing to get is inside. That is filling to the max.
