He he - actually, a proffessor at my uni used to fly a one-blade helicopter! Apparently is was more efficient than the two-blader!

(yes, there was a large lump of lead where the other blade used to be. Can't help thinking it must have been a heavy heli)

Maiden Flight video added to the first post.

Hair raising, but successful. Gotta dial in the transmitter.

Nice flying Joe. I would expect the A10 to be a little sensitive to the elevator as short coupled as it is. How much throttle/pitch coupling did you notice?

Thanks John. Truth is, it was a bit of a challenge. There is considerable thrust vectoring and some pitch change according to throttle input. I flew this maiden using tiny corrections and couldn't take time to even trim it out. I'll evaluate everything on subsequent flights. Now if this weather would settle down..... it's already back to brutal winds.

You don't have to tell me about the winds. I have managed all of three flights on my new Yak and it has been RTF for several weeks. Hopefully it will lay down next weekend for the FITS meet.

At least you've got those flights in. It's been noy joy for me lately. If these winds don't die down, micros will be grounded at FITS.

Bob,

You still going to try and fly yours tomorrow morning? I'll bring my video camera just in case!

If I were building this from an airframe ARF kit, I would attempt to find a power system that consumes less amps. It seems odd that I can get less power consumption from a pair of brushless 40mm fans than this pair of 30mm fans. Even my hotter 40mm setups consume less amps per fan and offer greater average power. This plane would be an absolute home run with the thrust and power consumption from a typical brushless 40mm fan setup, as well as the addition of a steerable nose wheel. The stock setup works, but to be able to taxi around and steer during landings and takeoffs would make this an unbeatable package.

Still fun stuff, even as it sits.

Loved the video! Nice landing!

Just a note. The model is made of EPS foam and not EPO as mentioned in post 1. That's why many of us received ours with cracks and dents.

Wow. It fooled me. Mine is flexible enough and the foam beads are quite large compared to the EPS I am used to. Oh well, thanks for the info!

Isn't 20+ amps a little too much for those JST connecters between lipo and esc? How long of a flight are you guys getting from a 1000mah with good throttle management?

I was hoping JPower was going to do their A-10 and Su-34 in 30mm or 40mm to keep the plane's size down but they went 50mm instead Now I'll have to decide between this A-10 or the 50mm version...

Yup. I'm changing mine once I get to the modifications stage. In fact, there's a few things I feel the need to change. That JST change is first. Then a small brace between the fuse and each engine nacelle to eliminate some flex. I already removed some foam from the bottom side of the canopy for additional battery clearance.

Are you guys getting test copies? I hope so...so that the final version will already include your mods.
