Awesome wing and tail set! 15g is very flyable, I find 12-13g tails are still super durable and shave a bit of weight (5-7g overall). You can probably halve the amount of carbon in the tail spar caps and hit that weight easily, tails will still be plenty strong and stiff!

hi,

they are not more or less durable then my previous set's , the only difffrence is that i didn't bloth out the glas skin as much , LE and spar are wetted the same as i do ussual(i guess)

so the extra weight doesn't make it stronger!

i will get to 13 gram's , no doubt .

the lenght of the fuselage in front of the LE is shorter then most fuselages ,so i wan't a light tail set and a 500mah nimh pack should get it ballanced out perfectly!

hi ,

i don't think i can reduce much on the caps , i use 40gram's/ mē spread tow tape wich laminated weigh's about 80 gr/mē , so the cap's themself weigh 0.6gram per fin

The caps could be tapered in width, to match the load distribution. If they tapered fully to a point at the ends (not recommending quite that much) then they would weight half as much.

hi,

just took my new wing out for a quick spin , it's freezing cold here but the wind layed down before it got dark.

altough the plane ain't trimmed out yet ,i can say i'm really pleased with it.

i can't compare my edge and this zone wing yet but the zone climb's higher (the fact that it's moulded and my edge not will have something to do with that)
my "old " record was 46meter , and now (only did a few throw's and it was 3 or 4 month's ago since i launched a glider) is 49meter.

during second or third flight a caught a thermal too , and the zone wen't up very well .

can't wait to get more sticktime on it .

aramid disser wing

hi,

this time i used the r&g aramid disser cloth instead of glas .
125gram, that's exactly the same weight as my previous one with 25gr glas skin.

120-125gram is a nice target weight i guess , hollow moulded my be a little bit lighter but i see many advantages of my machined rohacell cored wing's.

i ordered some ball bearing's for my rds using them i hope to get a smooth running system with very little play on it

cores are cut so if the bearings arrive i can make my first moulded wing with build in rds!

Way to go Kristof. I'd like to order three, if that's OK with Peter Cuypers of course (you will have to delay his delivery date).
Cheers,

Yves

olivier,

sure not , there wasn't a problem with torsional strenght before the kevlar disser , it only got better.

the solid rohacell core in combination with the d-box provides plenty of strenght.
