I think the orange\blue Extra is the best looking plane EF makes. Looks great on the ground and in the air. Wish they did the 78" Extra in the same color scheme!

I really really like the scheme on the 48" and 78" Extras. They are really nice, have great lines, and show up beautifully.

The 70" plane is a very different animal than the 60" or 48" EXP's. The 60" planes are larger, more stable versions of the 48" airplanes that are designed for tight, high speed flying, aggressive 3D, and wild tumbles. The 70" Extra flies like a really good giant scale IMAC airplane....less nimble, more stable.

It's funny, I love both of the 70" Extra schemes. The orange scheme looks a little different but very tasteful and I love those colors. I also really like the yellow version because while the lines are precise and conservative the colors are wild and different...it's a cool combination of wild and tasteful, like an Italian sports car or something.

so, speaking of 70"+ planes...

when is the 78" MXS tentatively scheduled for arrival? can we hope to see it in the awesome yellow livery?

The one I saw was Red White and Blue like the 48"....

Now that Hot Wheels scheme is hot!

I waited to the Orange scheme to come into stock as I did not particualry like the candy bar scheme either, but that is cool.

The 70" is one smooth, light flying plane. Mine is 7 lbs 12oz without battery. If I fly it with a 6s 4000 it is only a bit above 9lbs. Considering my 3DHS planes are 10.5 to 11.5 without the same wing area this is pretty impressive.

I hope to fly ghoffman's 78 this week once we put a Bowman ring in on the Mintor 38 because the one knock against the gasser 78 is that it is tough to find a powerplant with enough oomph to do the plane justice. I have also tried this this plane on 8s electric with a Hacker A60-5S which was not the most satisfactory arrangement. I only got enough power out of it once I went to a 22" Xoar prop. 10s electric is the way to go with electron power.

One of our local flying buds wants to put a DLE-20 into a 70". He already has the motor. I tried to run a experiement with a 18x6 Mej I used on my Mintor 22 but the electric setup would not put out the RPM. Now that I think about it I could put the ICE 100 back in and run 7 or 8s just to get the RPM correct and simulate it. If you do the math you can probably get the plane to be in the 9lb range with the DLE-20. My Mintor put out at best 15lbs of thrust so you can 3D it. I had a Velox which was 9.1 lbs on the Mintor and it was OK for power. I think it is very doable, but the results are going to be taste specific.
