Cool. Meantime, I don't think I posted this on this thread:

Flying 64" MXS EXP by Extreme Flight (3 min 4 sec)

Too cold and gusty wind to fly today.

I just tested HS-7245MG servos using an HPP21, a CC 10 Amp BEC set to 7.5 volts, powered by a cheap lab supply at 21.9 volts.

The servos during the sweep test pull 1.6-1.7 amps transient, quickly decaying to less than in about 15 mS. If I cranked the sweep test speed to the maximum speed, I measured 2.3 Amps peak no load transient.
Just did a comparison test on four brand new HS-5245MGs, setting the CC BEC to 6.1 volts. The 5245s peak at 1.5 amps transient during the sweep test, decaying less quickly in about 50 mS.

Also, I haven't put the Airboss 80 on the scope, but based on the TM1000 readings of 5.5 volt minimum during 3D flight, the CC 10 amp BEC is about as good, as I can get it to go to 5.5 volts while sweeping four servos at the same time, as measured on an oscilliscope. (The voltage drop is due to long wires, inductive loads). It would be interesting to see what a flight pack would do--it would probably do a little better as far as being able to keep up with instantaneous current demands on an inductive load, due to it being a battery, and having a slightly shorter path from the source to the load.

Point is, I am very confident in the Airboss 80's BEC without using an external BEC.

While the airboss 80 is listed as a 4 amp BEC, I guess it can handle 10 amps transient just fine (like the castle creations BEC.)

I just wish Chris would decide to support 7.5 volts out on them...

(If anybody has an old Airboss 80 they want to send me, I could reverse engineer it and look for data sheets, and if we're lucky we could get 7.5 volts out with a resistor change, probably voiding the warranty in the process).

Also, so out of the 8 new programmable hitecs (four 5245s, and four 7245s), and 20 or so previous programmable hitecs (5245s, 5085s, 5065s) I've tested, not one has had the deadband set to anything other than 1 out of the box.

I wonder if the reports of others that the "deadbands are all over the place" are due to buying servos from local hobby shops that accept returns? That, or I'm one lucky fellow.

iPhone 5, and some great video!

I was just watching this on my new Iphone5 and I'm shocked at how good it looks. The processor in this thing is amazing. The flying rocks also!

Chris is cool.
Really enjoyed watching him and the other "EF" Chris's tearing up the sky at the 3D line at eWeek.

Actually, I don't think I've ever seen that many people named "Chris" all in one place.
Somebody would say, "Hey Chris!" and like, 5-6 people would have to turn around.

That's great.. I skipped Ohio this year, Due to lack of a familiar crowd, but Eweek is #1 on my priority list for next year..

I always have the best time, when I get to fly in that neck of the woods..

Yeah, eWeek rocked.
Like Fred or someone else said, "The 3D line looked like an Extreme Flight Fly-In" this year.
Some of that "may" have been due to a Huckfest on the same weekend.
Then again, perhaps there were other planes there... at first.

Never turn your back on agressive airplanes, no matter how well-behaved you think they are.

I don't know where I am going to put the damn thing but I've been thinking about the orange/blue 70" Extra for about a year now. Anybody flown one?
