We have found a few places out there selling knock offs of our product. Buyer beware.

This is really screwed up...there seems to be nothing that China won't copy. Now we gotta inspect our servos for signs of being a fake? Almost makes me want to stock up on servos purchased from reputable sources!

Not as easy to pick, from a low res photo advert, as the Fake Futaba Servos.
Indicators would be where price is clearly suspect and/or seller stocks few if any other "Hitec RCD" products. Also be alert to those "Drop Shipping" Full article, except some "drop shippers" do not supply product obtained from an authorised source. Have seen reject Heli parts & OS motors which have been flood damaged goods, bought in "cheap" from offshore online sellers.
Best to purchase from your LHS or a well reputed on line shop which stocks the complete range of Hitec products and where buyer, in need, has full recourse.

Time to put holograms or seals on the product that readily identify originals. Or swear us to secrecy and let us in on the secret handshake.

They are just going to have to start implementing counterfit measures in their product.

Hitec HS-65MG from Ebay

I bought 3 HS-65MG's off ebay for $24 each. They came in cheap silver cardboard boxes rather than the nice plastic cases like the ones you get from the LHS. One of the servos was soaked in oil and there was no date sticker. Just a QC sticker.

I decided to take it apart and compare it to the HS-65MG I bought from the LHS.

In conclusion the Ebay bought HS-65's look identical to the ones purchased from the LHS. In the future however I think I will stick to purchasing servos from authorized resellers.

Hitec did in the last year or 2 change their packaging on some of their servos. So you could have gotten old stock. But on the other hand, it is better to buy from a trusted source that provides you good customer service.

Does not Futaba have their stuff manufactured in Taiwan, these days? Seems like I remember seeing something like that.
