Plastic Model Conversion

Being new to this hobby (only have built a Krafty 60 glow powered, and based my first electric on the puddle master) i've been wondering if anyone has thought about or done, converting a 1/48 scale plastice model into r/c electric power?

The questions I have thought about-- would it be too heavy to fly, and is there r/c gear small enough to fit into the model?

I'm sure you can find a SR-71, A-10, or P51 that would be big enough to fit all the gear.

any Ideas???

I figured it might be too heavy. the idea about using it as a mold doesn't seem too bad. hmmm.........think maybe make the form, and then use the spray-expanding foam........just a thought......

DL - You know you can't show us that Gee Bee without getting a video request. That is outrageous/righteous man. Sure you're not underpropped?

No Video....but

Sorry.. I don't have video capability,.. but I got a still of it... look carefully at the photo,..about 20 yards out, in the white cloud... (kind of blanked the plane out,)You can see the prop spinning, coming at you.. (or was it going... I have to fly it with a special binocular/cap set-up...)

You can't be serious. How could you land it "hot"? Doesn't that mean the prop is spinning upon landing? Vids would be much appreciated if this is for real.

Seriously Joking....

" Ask Mikey to try it,... He'll Fly anything!" (Just kidding Mikey ) Ok,.. Jig is up... it's a fake. I used the 1/32 model for scale reference on a projuct a long time ago.. saw this post, remembered it in the drawer. I stuck a GWS prop & spinner on a bamboo drink stir stick, and My radio gear from My project "Pseudo Pa-Nee" Crop duster inside. The photo was cut fom the Pseudo-Pa FLIES thread..and I blew it way up and put some GWS orange color in the clouds..... Thought I should come clean before someone put a lot of time in a copy, and pitched it into the wind...... New guys,.. If You want to build something that really SHOULD fly.. (crossing fingers) keep an eye on this thread for a "No-plans" build You can do at home.

Glad this Photo Didn't Work...

I had worked up a better "fraud" With this one, But the camera flash stopped the prop.... Had an IPS revved-up on a pack, and on the stick, held in visegrips under the plane My hand. Looked GREAT, till the flash went off.... It's hard not having a life..You keep having to find things to do...>sigh<
