Too true, sir. It's probably a bit late for that now though. See you this weekend, Tai!

Unfortunetly I have to be in Harbor City at around 10am Saturday morning, if I didn't have so much stuff going on I would definitely show up!

I will try to run out there Sunday morning, if anyone is around I will probably bother them a bit and ask for help trimming the plane and things like that

El Do This Weekend (Saturday 1/29/11)??

I need some more thermal hunting practice. Last week Matt found most of them and Clay found the rest. I need another lesson; how about Saturday?

Sunday works too, if that is better.

I could use some coaching on how to launch and fly these 3 meter planes.
I got, I think, a carbon Supra pro GMo special that's waiting to fly higher than a hand toss. Lol.

This week it looks like Sunday is the better day for me - although since I'm taking a vacation day tomorrow, I might head up to ElDo for a warm-up... I've been repairing some planes, and need to give them test flights. Yes, that's right, the Crumple Zone will fly again! More Crumpled than ever!

Not that I'm aware of. Certainly Clay deserves a little time off. Has he posted a contest calendar for 2011?

Clay was thinking something bi monthly alternating with Poway which doesn't have posted the schedule yet.
My Eldo annual pass is about to expire. Thinking going there this weekend to milk all of it...

My plans were changed for me shortly after I posted.

Now I have to be in MB Saturday night so I plan on hunting thermals at El Do on Saturday.

I am hoping my instructor(s) will be there.

Ok, Tom, I'd rather fly with good company I'll see you on Sat - though I might have to leave a little earlier than usual...

There is no contest this week. I asked Clay that question while we were packing up the gear after the JEM. Clay deserves a well-earned break after the JEM. He planned and executed the JEM singularly, although not without a tremendous effort from Jerry, Jen, and Denise with scoring so that Clay could fly.

Unfortunately, it seems there's a shortage of good places in N.OC/S.LA counties. I'm in Tustin, and drive up to El Dorado every weekend because I haven't found a suitable spot close to home. Oh, and there's usually a nice group of DLG'ers there, too

If you have a good spot for thermal flying down by you, please share!

Friday 1/28 at ElDo

I was up at El Do today for a couple hours this morning - the air was as still as I think I've ever seen it there. A beautiful warm morning, but the flying was really tough - a few small thermals here and there, but with such calm air, they weren't forming into anything big. It was good practice; big air makes it too easy

The air started to get organized just about as I left at about 11:30, my last couple of flights were ~4 min from 50% tosses.

A preview of tomorrow's conditions? we'll see...
