Build Log
Swifter build has begun

I couldn't help myself when I seen on R2Hobbies they Swifter Hydroplane Hulls for $28 small injuries to the hull but nothing that can't be patched back perfectly and followed a coat of Pearl.

Anyway I spent some time today using what I may learned from you in the past few weeks and put together what I think will be some decent running to achieve some rip roaring pace.

1. X 440 prop to start with and I still don't quite understand it but that's where i'll stat and hope you help me over the next few weeks.

2. The ESC will be Turnigy 180A or the Seaking 180A whichever is easiest to obtain. I'm sure this ESC is the best choice you all use them and recommend them

3. Leopard 4074 2000kv x 14.8v = 29600rpm. Pretty close to the 30,000RPM Target I have been reading about.

4. Casual Batteries with longer run time while sharing the waterways with the young bloke. A Parallel setup. (I already own these)
Turnigy 5000mAh 4S 40C 578grams 149mmx49mmx37mm. They are heavey suckers so performance will be impacted I understand that.

Sports Sprint run batteries Serial setup. Sharing the waterways with no-one
Turnigy 5000mAh 2S 40C $27.10 308grams 147mmx49mmx18mm
Turnigy 5800mAh 2S 25C $29.55 336grams 149mmx50mmx19mm
What difference do you think there will be between the 5000 40C and 5800 25C

Half the thickness, nearly half the weight. Surely to be a substantial performance increase, maybe these batteries may prompt a prop change as well, we will see.

List of changed equipment

1
New motor Leopard 3660 2050kv
2
New Batteries to add to the list. With weight in mind
2S 4500Mah 30C serial run
3 Prop Idea's
X642, X436, X438,X440

I have found lots of 1sqm sheets of 3K carbon weave 1K wave a CF tissue, super thin, FG 0.2mm to 2mm thickness, CF tubes and square tube, flat strips, buying up a fair bit to get the kitty restocked. The inside of this hull is getting a layer of CF. Scorp here comes the CF and aluminum BLING factor sorry I can't help it.... Battery pods from the carbon sheet and fixed with velcro so the the COG can be tweeked,

The misses has been saying Another package has turned up for you. A box with Castle Creation has arrived, Tubes of things. I'm sitting in this fg Hospital and can't my hands on it.....uuurrrrrr Look out next week when i get home Xmas will be here early.

If you think I've off on a bender somewhere let me know or if you have a better idea let me know I would love your help.

Hey Rusty, before to you get to far advaced on the buying

You will have trouble fitting an 180A up the front in this hull all you need is a 120A max....heaps of power. I only run a 60A in mine and it goes like a rocket on 3s in parallel.

Ok I had a quick look and the motor 4074 is 23mm longer than the one in the build pictures from the website, I didn't think it would have been a problem, so a 3S build instead you think.

Baz as you say with yours the batteries are in the sponsons, I have a Tuenigy coming in for the Ocean cat build so I will wait to see if it fits in front of the motor under the raised front section. That curved cabin bit which is a waste of space could be remodded with some CF and create a nice space.

Or here I go already a complete rethink and go 3S. I finally thought I was clever and worked out a build, well Nearly. All good though

Rusty, the front curved bit is where the ESC goes up the front and the bat's go in the left/right sponsons if you are ever going to get the CG at 3/4 behind the rear of the sponsons.

PS: You will also need to add a spacer to the bottom of the rudder mount as the transom has a slight negative angle.

OK i found a Leopard 3660 2050kv in 4S puts me at 30340rpm, just a tad over the 30,000rpm magic figure. Just need to find a water jacket now to suit.

F1 that thing flies on a 34mm is that like a X434 1.4 pitch.

Rusty, can do but this will make it week in this area, not nessacery.

All i did was to make up a nice little wooden tray to velcro the ESC to up in front of the motor.

Out now or PM if you need more advice....
