Pitts S2B 40" wing span

I can't believe I did it, but the plane addiction is too strong to overcome right now ... so I sold my T-Rex 450 Pro and everything related to it (spares and such). I was planning on getting a 550E, but I have my eyes dead set on a Pitts. I looked at a bunch all week, and ideally I want to go with a model size that will allow me to use my 11.1V 2200mah Lipos. Here is the kit I decided on. It will be a nice addition to my T-28 Trojan.

1. http://r2hobbies.com/eng/proddetail....d=rcpl81006_gp

I made $330 on my 450 Pro, so I am trying to go about it in the most efficient way.

Also, what servos would be good for ailerons, elevator etc.? I have Hitec HS-65HBs in my Trojan ailerons and a Hitec HS-81 for elevator.

Thanks in advance!

PS: I didn't get any response in the 3d Flying forum, hence I opened it here..

i couldnt find any others, people have modified the hobbyking foam pitts to fit 2200's, but it seems like a lot of extra weight for the little thing.

the r2 one looks nice and WAS on 50% off sale, doesnt appear to be still on sale.. bugger.

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1348536

looks like it IS on sale you just have to login to see the specials so $55 sounds pretty good!
I went with r2hobbies and ordered the motor they recommended as well. Which motor at hobbypartz (much better deal) would work on this plane too? What servos for ailerons/elevator? Can I use my Hitec HS-65HBs for the ailerons? The motor they mention seems pretty good though...

Any advice for servos or motor at Hobbypartz would be awesome!!!

Hope you got the half price deal! I've got one on the way as well, $53 is too good to pass up. I'll probably put HXT900 in the wings, possibly a little bigger like the GWS park servos in the tail. R2 say 9g servos all round.

Become a member by registering, then when you log in the menu bar on the left will have a "Christmas Sale" category. Anything you choose from the sale pages will have the discount taken off when you put it in the shopping cart.

Just read the manual. Says 16-29g servos...

I'm probably going for one of the Hitec servos. They have great specs and since the manual recommends 16-29g servos, Hitec has plenty in that category.

1. HS-85BB+ Mighty Micro http://www.servocity.com/html/hs-85b...hty_micro.html

2. HS-85MG+ Mighty Micro http://www.servocity.com/html/hs-85m...hty_micro.html

3. HS-82MG Servo http://www.servocity.com/html/hs-82mg_servo.html

4. HS-65MG Servo http://www.servocity.com/html/hs-65m...y_feather.html

5. HS-81 Micro http://www.servocity.com/html/hs-81_micro.html

6. HS-225MG Mighty Mini http://www.servocity.com/html/hs-225mg_mighty_mini.html

EDIT: The last one might actually be a little too big in size...

What do you guys think of these servos? Any advice, comments?

Everything has been ordered and according to EMS I should have the package by Thursday or Friday! This will be my Pitts S2B 30e setup:

1100kv D3639 brushless motor
12x5 Zinger Wood Propeller
Castle Creations Thunderbird 54A ESC
4x Hitec HS-65MG servos
4x 11.1V 2200mah 25C SkyLipos; 4x 11.1V 2200mah 20C Lipos
Spektrum AR6100e v1.6 or AR6200 haven't decided yet there.

Can't wait and will start posting pics of building process, etc. But now, I'm heading to the field to whip my T-28D around

Cheers

I got mine yesterday, moving house this weekend though so I had a quick look and packed it away again before I was tempted to start assembling. Looks like a nice model, glass cowling and spats, covering job done to a reasonable standard but it did need retightening in places. All of the screw holes for horns, cabane mounts etc are predrilled which is a plus.
Servo mounting holes look like the 9g size, I think they would need quite a bit of trimming to get the larger ones in. I'm going to try HXT900 I think, except for elevator which will have a metal gear equivalent.

My buddy has 19g Hitecs, same as I ordered, no problem! And as per manual it's confirmed, it actually takes up to 29g, but must be still micro size. Yup, didn't know that either, but there are indeed 29g servos in the micro category. Now starting with mini servos you will have length and width issues. Also, on Pitts that size and a bunch of torque needed to move 4 aileron surfaces, I would never use anything but METAL GEAR!!!

Got her today! Absolute beauty! Precisely cut laser pieces and the only complaint would be that there are no pre-drilled holes in the ailerons for the servo horns although the manual says there should be. Not a big deal, just drill them myself. The TurboRix 1100KV motor does not come with the kit. Will start assembly tomorrow. Here are package content pics

This is an ARTF model, you'll probably find that you get more assistance if you ask for information in the ARTF/RTF scale forum. I have requested that this thread be moved there.
