Very cool. I never thought of using a Polaris for FPV. What a good choice. Would love to see more.

Thanks WireWolf & Hammer

in fact ... i'v start a built/review about FPV polaris and didnt get
a single response
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1833169
nothing special about this plane... i did not design... its a
moded Depron kit from ModelAero.com ... i'l be glad to answer
any needs for FPV mods (getting the CG wich GOPRO onboard)

with this plane in FPV mode... everything seems easy ....
only good behavior... but like most of depron airframe...
its not a "bashing" toy

here is the ModelAero Ultra ARF with an FPV withness :
Scarab Triikopta and Polaris Ultra (2 min 6 sec)

FPV Raptor

I've flown out around a mile with my new Raptor. I'd have gone a lot farther but it was fairly windy and gusty (20-25MPH) but she lands like a dream evenin the West Texas winds.

FPV Raptor ARF
- stock motor, speed controller, and servos
- two turnigy 9g servos for flaps
- 1 x 4000mAh Flightmax drive battery up too three for 12000mAh toatal
- 1 x 1300mAh Flightmax VTx battery
- full Eagle Tree array
.... barometric Alt and Airspeed
.... temp sensor and brushless tach
.... 10Hz GPS, OSD, soon I'll a Guardian stabilizer
- Dragon Link long range RC system
- Lawnmate 500mw 1280MHz VTx
- Blue Beam VTx Antenna
- 690TVL Pixim Seawolf chipset camera w/ 2.1mm lens
- I plan to paint it flat grey for low observability

Awesome build! I have been thinking of making a coroplast Polaris... well coro wings with a nice foam body. But I may just go with 3/8" XPS for the entire build on a XL like yours... Looks awesome! What motor are you using?

hummm... i dont like coro much... but it may be OK to make this
airframe more durable...this depron kit only have 2 weakness from my opinion:
-built time
-fragility

you want to keep this built under 1300g with GOPRO+3s2200 ...

motor : the 133% with GOPRO require a solid 250W+ with 80g motor, this one will provide awsome performance : i get 350w with 3s2200
+8x6 3blade wich provide unlimited vertical

hk specter 1800 is finished, and I've had a few LOS flights on it, just to get it set up right. I made some changes in the build though, which are as follows: 1. I glued the two v-tail pushrods together, and connected them to one servo, for elevator only. this was both to save weight, and also because I discovered that it is very difficult to fit two hxt900s in the fuse without cutting away part of the wing. 2: It had a bit of a nasty tip stall, so I warped the trailing edge down towards the root, to act as washout. now it stalls flat as a pancake, and slows down more before stalling too. planning to install my fpv this weekend, after I get a folding prop (I've broken all three of the props I've used on it so far) should be able to post video in a week or two!

Excellent plane and setup. I have only flown my Raptor to about a kilometer with 5.8Ghz 200mw. It truly handles like a dream, though in the sharp banks I have noticed if you do not use enough rudder it can steeve out of control.

I hadn't noticed but I'll be wary. I flew again yesterday but it was very windy again so I haven't been able to judge much except the landing charicteristics in wind which are great!
