Finally finished my Sky Walker setup and Ground Station. I used the foam canopy to install the 27x zoom camera int he front of the airplane, and the main battery will be installed in the belly of the plane. I currently have 6 channels but I need 8-9 with PPM capability so I can control the zoom, and switches. NO pan/tilt on this setup due to weight.

The top pod will carry the VTX and a GoPro or similar HD camera, and the Ground Station will carry a mini laptop, radio, batteries and antennas (still in progress)

Equipment used:

1) Skywalker V5.1
2) 4 Turnigy 9gram servos
3) Castle Creations ICE 50amp ESC
4) Balsa Product Motor (cant recall the specs right now)
5) 4S 5000mAh 20C Motor/Servo/Main battery
6) 3S 1000mAh Video/Camera Main Battery
7) Dragon OSD V2/GPS/Autopilot
8) FY20A Stabilizer
9) RC Video Switcher
10) Fat Shark 420 CCD Killer CMOS Camera (main camera)
11) 27x Zoom CCD Day/Night Color Camera (second camera)
12) Immersion RC 5.8ghz VTX
13) Airwave 5.8ghz VRX
14) Haier 10' LCD Monitor
15) Philips 30GB DVR
16) Turnigy 9x Radio (LRS Soon)

Now there is a plane that will take over the world!
Love the 27x zoom cam underneath but I have only seen 10x? Where did you buy that one?

Heres my Rig and a short clip of a flight.

Remzibi OSD, 700TVL RMRC camera, 1W Lawmate VTX, PC for viewing and recording.

It only has a 30" wingspan and weighs in at 350g AUW with a 1000mah 3s which gives around 10-12 min of flight.

Pic of the plane is at the end.

it would be a hard task getting it to balance on 1x 4s 4000.

you might want to move the servos more forward than standard, and consider cutting the battery along the nose keeping it as far forward as possible.

you will also want to use a small ish motor mounted inwards.

i think you will probably need ballast though if using such a small batt.

i flew mine on a microdan 2505 1845 with a 7x5 on 3s, and it needed 2x 3300 3s and the gopro to ballance.

you might just do it if you cut it in a long way though.

This plane has a os46ax with a 1.5 litre tank.
The video battery will work for over two hours tested on the bench.

The lense is 6mm so only a fraction shows in the camera.

Camera is mounted on a 1.2/1.3 video tx, just below the actual antenna.

Its a snow ski plane that runs on glow and can fly for a long time.

Here is a video of the testing and maiden with wheels on it.

Thanks a lot for your input! I will be playing with it soon. I can fit 2 x 4000mah 4s in there if I have to, but really was trying to avoid it. I guess we shall see..

i think you will like it a bit heavier anyway.

with 2x3300 3s and the go pro it cam in at 2kg and it felt really light in the air. with more battery it cuts through the air better and just flies smoother.

but you can slow it down to an unbelievable speed at that weight haha

this is how it flies at 2kg

FPV Scout Bee Details

I've had a few people asking about the build for my latest FVP ship, a Windrider Scout Bee. I didn't take many useful pics during the build, so here are a couple of the finished product, and a brief description:

I put a 4" wide (2" thick) 'Fuselage' between the wing halves. The spars run through the fuselage, which means that the ribbons finish 2" short of the wingtips, and the rear spar tube extends 2" less into each wing half.

The fuselage holds:
- Front: Go-Pro and pilot camera on a panning servo.
- Front Bay: DL LRS RX, ET OSD, ET Guardian, ET Logger
- Rear Bay: Battery connectors - I didn't want to be continutally fishing around the electronics each time I connected/disconnected the flight batteries
- Rear Deck: Turnigy Plush 60 ESC
- PVC downpipe motor mount (fits nicely around fuselage) with Scorpion 3014-1200 motor turning a 10X6 CAM folding prop.

Left Wing:
- one flight battery
- Network (5-core shielded) cable for power and signal to/from VTX
- VTX with integrated microphone and power reg for 5v/12v cams. This allows me to run either a 12V or 5V pilot camera.
- Inverted V antenna

Right Wing:
- the other flight battery
- GPS receiver
- Antenna for Dragonlink RX

Servos are Hitec HS-485's installed in the provided recesses.
The stock elevons are too flexy, so I put 3mm carbon tubes in them. Step-hinged to stay tight and slop free.
Vertical stabs are 5mm correx, fastened with electrical tape.

Batteries are 3S 2200 30C, and are close to the CoG, so I could add capacity easily without affecting balance.

The whole plane is covered in light laminating film, and the front quarter of wings is further covered with burrly Newstuff laminating film. This ads significant strength and stiffness to the wing. The molded-in recess for the RX that spans across the underside of the stock wing halfs is divided in two by the fuselage creating perfectly positioned finger holes for launching! Nice.

Plane cruises at 10-11A 50-60km/hr and I have flown to 5.5km with no sign of reaching any limits. Max speed is about 110 flat and level, and I have limited the max current draw to 38A, which is enough for a 45 degree climb-out.

Very nice job with the modifications on the Scout Bee. It looks very similar to a home built FPV wing I am building. You are getting great performance from yours and close to what I am expecting from mine. Nice Job!
