Skunkworks, you need to post a link to this thread in part 2 then lock the part 2 thread. There were still a few posts after starting this one.

These are my AMOS antennas for 2.4GHz. I made these for Christmas gifts for my brothers. These are WiFi antennas with 13 dbi gain and a huge 60 degree beam width. The radiation pattern is fairly flat. This makes for a great WiFi antenna. Think of all the times your WiFi was weak. Now they can get it from the house at the end of the block!

The AMOS is great for land vehicle FPV as the elevation change is minimal. it is also good for very low altitude long range FPV. It utilizes a 4:1 180 degree phase shifting balun to balance the impedance to 50 ohms.

These were fairly easy to make and there are lots of tutorials out there. The balun is simply 1.58 inches of RG174 coaxial cable in a loop

If anybody wants to build a long range WiFi antenna, I would recommend this or a BiQuad (a biquad is easier). You will need a U.FL male to RPSMA female jumper wich can be found on Ebay for about $5. The wireless card inside your computer is a U.FL connector.

Have you ever tried infrared Power LED's? I think it would make it easier to not over expose the camera... I am doing experiments with 2 3W IR led's. They are not driven to full current due to being enclosed without airflow and I get pretty decent 20 degree beams. Ground vehicle though.

My goal was to see in color, I made a few color videos but the recording was crappy.
The first design had the light mounted on the pan/tilt and was to be use as a searchlight. I made it as a spot (24 degree beam width) but this resulted in overexposure and glare problems. If I change the spot lens I currently have with oval shaped flood I'll probalbly reduce over exposure a lot.

Instead, I'm building my second headlight that adress those shortcomings. It will have a 45degrees vertical beam width and 125 degrees horizontal. Most of the lumens will be directed forward and intensity gradualy goes down as angle goes down. (the far away ground will receive more light and the close, underneath ground will receive less, not to overexpose portion of it)

Again, it'll be a liquid cooled led array, but with 3 times more lumens output (18,000) and 1/3 the size.

Hi !! I'm new here and this is my new radian with basic equipment. All of fpv gear is readymaderc 900 ghz and 480 cam. Turnigy 9x 2.4 ghz (dragon soon) Painted for best view in the sky and in case of lost. No maiden flight because temperature here is poor.
