TEFF - Austin, TX Mar 18,19 & 20th, 2011 Texas Electric Flight Festival

Texas Electric Flight Festival - 2nd Annual

Austin Radio Control Association (ARCA) is pleased to announce our kick off event of the 2011 electric outdoor season.

Event Flyer

The facility is top of the line with lots of parking area, tent camping and RV hook-ups. 110 volt plugs are available at the club house, covered set-up areas and all the way down tent row . You will love the large/long runway, taxi lanes and pits. Pilot registration fee of $20 covers both TEFF and the EF1 races to be held on Sunday.

ARCA is known for it's hospitality, food and first class events. Please put the TEFF on your calendar. We will host our famous steak dinner again on Saturday evening.

Yes, we are foamy friendly. All AMA pilots are welcome to fly and we want to extend a special welcome to the AMA Park Flyer members to come out and do some flying! If you have an airplane powered by an electric motor, bring it. Size wise you will see everything from micros to giants and speed wise you will see everything from slow flyers, to pylon racers.

We will have Eddie Acoba and other knowledgeable pilots on the PA System that will keep the event fun. Our announcers will have a full range wireless microphone to roam the facility, getting up close and personal with all the pilots. We made a large investment in a new PA System with 2 wired speakers and 2 remote wireless speaker systems.

Last year we had 3D and sport pilots start showing up early in the week, some staying on site, some at nearby hotels. It was a very informal opportunity to hang out with friends from out of town and get in some great flying.

We will also be hosting the TEFF Electric Formula 1 Pylon Races on Sunday with warm up flights from 10 am til 11:30 am. Racing will start immediately after the warm up flights. We are going to limit the number of entrants in the EF1 event to 24 pilots so everyone will be able to get in 5 rounds of flights. Let us know ASAP if you would like to participate in the races. The races are for the new NMPRA Electric Formula 1 airplanes like the E-flight, LR-1A Pogo. We are going to make the event very friendly to pilots new to pylon racing and will walk you through participation. We will soon be posting more about the races under an additional event heading.

Make sure to plan on hanging out in the evening for night flying every night. We will let you know more about the exciting night flying at TEFF as we get closer to the event.

We are lining up some outstanding Sponsors/Vendors and a mega raffle.

Travel:

Houston - 152 Miles
Dallas - 193 Miles
San Antonio - 91 Miles

Hope you can make it,

Sincerely,

Robert Youens - Event Manager

Jeff,

Everyone should give credit to Jeff for coming up with the name TEFF.

I know you will have electric 3D and Heli's at the event, the question is are you going to race in the Electric Formula 1 race on Sunday.

Hope you will,

Robert

it's tempting
i was just on HK's site looking at motors and batts. Will the nano 4S2650 35c pack make the weight limitations?

Jeff,

That is the best battery available for the event that I am aware of and it makes weight easily. I have several friends that own them and they are very impressed.

Here is a link to a thread I put together for my EF1 stuff and for others to post their stuff.

Did you check out the thread for the race.

So everyone is flying at similar speed and only pilot skill flying the course is the determining factor. If you let people bolt on what ever motor, prop, or battery it would be no fun for anybody.

Damn...this event will be happening about a month after baby #2 gets here. Might be tricky to get away for a weekend...
