To the Red Arrows Owners

guys can someone PLEASE do me a favor and post pics of where exactly the elevator servo and ESC are supposed to sit in the fuse?

I have PNP version which came servoless and the pics in manual suck.

I think

the ESC is supposed to sit above the elevator rod tubes, and the elevator servo is supposed to sit in front of the esc in the one cut out.

BUT

why is the cut out soo large? which way is best to mount servo?

lengthwise so esc wires can run beside it?

Picture attached. ESC mounted behind the servo, deep inside the fuse. If you take the cover for the motor off, you can see there is a cutout on the top portion of the inside, and the ESC should tuck in there. Make sure you extend the power wires to your battery.

great thank you very much

Looks like I have some soldering to do - lengthen power wires of ESC

How do you find you the aileron servos on top of wing? create any off flight characteristics?

When you guys upgrade to the 4S pack .. do you keep the small bullet connectors or change to a mini deans or what? Also, just what size and where have you been getting them at? I found some Turnigy 1600 4S 20C but that is about all I am finding.

The plane flies just fine with the servos on the top. I did it because I land on a carpet runway.

I use the 3.5mm bullets on all my models.

Cool

Do you mind posting a pic of the tail?

How much should the tips of the H stabs point down?

Mine is quite a bit, not sure if that's normal or not.

Thanks

Yep...your ESC should be ok. 4s makes a big speed amd climb improvement for the stock motor. Just make sure that your fan isnt too badly out of balance or it might come apart.

I didn't do any incidence mods to the tail, so this is "factory". I don't have any closeups of the plane's tail, and it was destroyed in a recent crash, sorry.

Sorry to hear about your crash.

Thanks for pics - the checkered graphics look great.

Your elevator tips are pointed down correct?

hey gooniac33,

I bought an f8 crusader too and i am having difficulty getting it to fly, how's yours? is the c.g in the manual correct? my crusader keeps pitching up crazily on launch and goes into a flat spin.

thanks a bunch!

I dialed mine in and then sold it. My first launch was the same and thankfully it is a pretty strong airframe. But you need to move the CG a little forward of what they say on the manual and add lots of elevator throw. It needed a lot of differential in the ailerons to fly right. 68% on mine and then it would roll without adverse yaw. I also nipped the exhaust as well since the exhaust is only 48mm which is way too big. But it never did really fly the way that I liked. So I sold it before I killed it...

manually set the ailerons with a down incidence (flaps) to push the nose down and it will fly out without pitching the nose up.
