We use Bob's balancer to do all our dynamic balancing.
Using that in combination with a quality Wemotec Microfan is about as good as it gets for mild to wild power, with no vibration or exploding fans.

The wemo rotors are prebalanced (weight added) at the factory. On the micros, the spinner is not removable, so it's fine tuned on the dynamic balancer by incrementally rotating the rotor on the shaft adaptor. More putty is added to the inside of the hub if required.

you can balance your edf using equipment you already have, fingers and ears. Its the same method of moving the weight (tape or bluetack) around to find the sweet spot then increasing or decreasing the weight. Less precise but free.
if you have one of those smartphones you can also use it to balance your edf.
someone found cheap accelerometers that can be used too. and another guy has a method using a laser and a mirror.

I balance mine by hand/ear, but I really like the accelerometer idea, I'll be getting one.

But my question is how do you remove the pre-applied stickers?

you are better off getting the airframe only from hobbyb without stickers.
I removed them from my AMX using isopropyl alcohol rubbing it on gently with a brush, takes ages. Then I got some acetone (nailpolish remover) and that melted them away quickly, but it will also dissolve the paint. I was recently straightening the wings of my F22 in very warm water and that made some of the decals come off, but others seem to be stuck fast.

sticky tape takes the stickers / paint of ... that's the stuff that normal handling doesn't remove !!

But does the acetone damage the foam? I wouldn't mind spot-painting, and
the Hobby-B kit doesn't come with control rods, nor do they sell them seperate.

I've used low odor mineral spirits to remove paint, and I know Nitrocharged had used naptha to do the same without damaging the EPO foam.

The tape is by far the best method for removing the paint. Don't stick it to the paint, just quickly drag it across the paint and the paint will peel off in large sections. As paint sections are removed use a fresh spot on the tape to prevent dragging "paint pills" on the foam and marring the surface.

Using chemicals turned out to be extremely messy and annoying. When I accidenetly discovered the tape method I was very releived that there was an easier way.

I just recently stripped down my F-18 using low odor mineral spirits and it took all the paint off and left the decals perfectly intact. I plan to glass and repaint in Model Masters Blue Angels Blue and Yellow paint thats more accurate than the stock dark blue paint. It is a messy job but for such a small airframe its not too bad IMO.

I have found it next to impossible to get some of these water slide decals off of EPO airframes. Now that is a pain for sure.

Is Model Masters an acrylic? I thought it was enamel, and couldn't be used on foam.

It does look like guidance failure. What TX/RX setup were you using?
The Sabre doesn't look too bad, just might need to dunk it. And the Goshawk
looks like a clean break. A little CA and maybe some toothpicks
as rebar should work.
