It's actually quite different from a pop-top. From inverted, use about 50% left rudder and instantly follow that by full down elevator and just a hair of left aileron. As soon as it starts rotating, slowly release the rudder and steadily push the ailerons over to the right in such a way that by the time the airplane is in it's last rotation of the tumble, you have full right aileron. This tumble is all about timing, but you'll get it with practice! - and *THIS* airplane. I've done this maneuver with many airplanes, but none does it nearly as well as the 91" Extra 300EXP!
Think of it as a horizontal KE spin.

Thanks Daniel. I understand now. Getting the timing right is another matter...

I will be attempting on my 60" MXS. Will it perform this well enough?

Timing is very important indeed. I have recently been working on a version of them myself. I have a long way to go but today I got my first sloppy one with my 48 Edge on video. I've been trying out a Gopro Hero3 camera this weekend and this is a flight from today. Skip to 2:27

The 91" Extra is king of this maneuver, but the MXS does it very well also!

How do you like that EME? You got the rollers down. LIke the KE spin into IFS, too.

I need an HD camera *and* a cameraman. I use the gopro, too much work to get a video out of a head mounted gopro.

Thanks. I'm loving it so far. Plenty of pull(not like the 60'' planes but it does the job) and it's running reliably. Starts easy too.

Nice flying! Hero3 looks good! Are you recording with the case on the Hero3? If so, the audio sure has improved from the Hero2.

I'm going to slow things down a bit from all the rocking and tumbling. Here's some footage from last summer I finally got to editing.

Very nice I love the smoothness. The fast pace stuff is fun but every once in a while you need to slow down. I really enjoyed that. Great flying!
