Is the bracing only on one side? I was thinking to do both sides as a mirror of each other. On this size model I guess one side may be more than adequate?

Always trying to be mindful of weight in the cost/benefit equation.

Yup. Just one side, it's plenty stiff. I've actually found that this skeleton method (particularly with the drop cloth type covering) is very durable. The semi flexibly skin lets things move around more when you bump into things, keeping the foam from cracking.

Mine came out ~10 grams covered. My scale doesn't show tenths so I'd have to say +/- .5 grams. It's a blast and much less expensive than the E-Flite Extra.

I'm still tweaking the design to get it lighter. I feel the need to cut more weight! I'm still using "normal" 3mm depron...the depron aero is supposed to come in this week. They say it 20% lighter. That alone should shave off around 1.6-1.8 grams!

Cool. I'm considering doing one with alternate electronics. I don't want to go Spektrum, and I don't want a gearbox. My electronics should weight 18.5g. A 10g airframe leaves another 4g for linkages to reach a 32.5g goal. Electronics can probably be lightened a little bit if need be.
Plus prop weight... not planning on doing landing gear.
I'm planning on using Depron Aero also. Actually seems to be a little cheaper than regular depron

My Yak is ~11 grams covered with a touch of paint added. Hope to finish it up this weekend.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the best way to produce a paper template from the dxf files posted above if I don't have a plotter? Take the dxf files down to a copyshop with a plotter and have them print them out? Use software that will convert the dxf files to a tileable pdf? Use some dxf viewer program that will produce a tiled printout? Any suggestions? Thanks

Also, do you guys recommend any good online sources for depron, especially somewhere with reasonable shipping so a small order won't break the bank? I bought some thin depron online about 3 years ago but I can't for the life of me remember where.

For ordering depron, I would use rcfoam.com

I have no clue about the dxf conversion...I was trying to figure that out too.

I believe that I ended up using .040" because that what the hobby guys had in stock. It seems to work fine. I think the stock 4-site uses .050".

I'm converting the dxf to Pdf for my version. Gonna cut it out by hand. I'll put it up when its done.
Umm... What the wingspan supposed to be on this thing? I was guessing 16" but maybe 18" since it's so light?

cpdude - thanks
