Thanks. This project kind of slipped of my radar because of work craziness. I'll try to get cut files up before the end of the weekend.

MIT KID,

Thanks a lot for posting the drawings!!!

I do have two quick questions...

One what thinkness of foam did you use? And, two why are the two fuselage sides and two rudders? I'm thinking I'm missing something

I used 3mm Depron "Aero" from Rcfoam.com for mine.

I posted the parts layout as I cut them on my laser cutter. I can fit 2 sets of fuselage components on one sheet, and the wing/tail take another sheet. That's why there are two sets of fuse parts on the file you're talking about.

So for 3 sheets of foam I can make 2 planes. The layout is just to conserve material and speed up the cutting process.

Adam,
Thank you very much for the design. It looks fantastic. Did you use any carbon in your plane(s)?

I cut the fuselage sides out last night. Very nice design. I really like the profile of the pilot. Very cool!

Yes there is some carbon bracing, I'll try and get some pics this afternoon

Added the shot of the wing bracing. It's 0.6mm rod

Looking Great!

BTW on the last one I built I replaced the foam fuselage brace with a couple of pieces of carbon, to truss out the rear of the fuse. It seems stiffer, and tool a lot less time. I'll take a picture of that tonight.

I plan to do as you mentioned with using carbon for truss bracing.

I am trying to find a source for the components used in the 4-Site for less than buying a complete airframe for $80.

Anyone know where we can get the motor, rx/esc/brick, and long throw ail servos at a reasonable price? Otherwise I'll have to order a 4-Site and strip the components...

its way cheap to just order a pnp 4-site. the parts add up to a lot mroe than that and you can sell the airframe for around $20 so its really not that bad.

Yeah, the PNP 4-site is an amazing deal. it actually becomes more valuable when you tear it apart!

Your bracing is exactly what I am thinking. I am also thinking I will run the wing carbon braces to the tips and install a SFG at your original wing brace mount location to intersect the brace location to the tip.

I also have some carbon uni-web that I may lay out in various areas to provide some possible additional stiffness to the airframe.

I ordered a PNP 4-Site today from Hobbytown in Folsom. They should have it by noon tomorrow. Hoping to have it RTF by tomorrow evening.
