max a Parkjet can suffer is about 140gr in LiPo

You can go even higher in weight . I am using successfully this pack :

Actually, the plane flys even better with this heavier battery than with a 100 g pack at least when it's windy .

Honestly, I can fly whatever from a 100g 3S Rhino pack to this 1300-4S -155g pack and the plane is always as easy to launch and feels very light no matter the battery weight.

I believe that this plane could carry even more weight if we can find room for it.

I registered today 166 km/h and 177 km/h in a dive with my 70g-2700-motor with a Rhino-3S-1050-30C pack on a 4,75x4,75 prop .

Unfortunately, the canopy popped off when I changed battery for a 4 cells pack and the pitot tube was damaged for the second time . Again I couldn't register the speed but man, that was really fast .

Finally I tried my best pack, the nano-tech-4S-1300-45C and it became quite "brutal" and a bit scary !! What a blast !!!!

Hopefully I"ll manage to repair that speed recorder and I"ll finally get a speed reading on 4 cells .

Note I did say - 140gr depending on motor etc.

I have a really heavy 450 helicopter motor in mine ... so that causes real bad tail weight. I cannot balance it with the 920 4S as the pack is too long and I cannot get it fwd enough. My 1800 3S is ok thouigh as it's shorter, heavier and I can get weight more fwd.

Once I fit the 5000kv or the 3800kv I have ordered - they are much lighter motors and I will then have greater variation in packs and of course then I can look at more than 140gr.

177 kph .... not bad ... we just need to pitch you up on prop .. maybe a few extra rpm and you'll be screaming past me !

I sincerely believe less than 5" pitch will hold you guys back. Once I get a reliable launch ramp in place - i shall be going up again in pitch ........ probably cutting back a 7 x 6 prop to 4.5 x 6 or similar ... have to test and see what amps draw vs thrust is ... maybe less diameter ..

Glad you hit insane speed though jpette ............. I know I had to let my heart settle after !! it is INTENSE !

1500mAh 4S 25C ............. its more compact than the nano-tech and to be honest - I have a couple friends who have given up on nano's after both of them found not long after starting to use them power ouput was no better than a standard LiPo, in fact some of them were worse. 25C is more than enough I reckon..... 25C x 1.5A = 37.5A .... burst at 35C x 1.5A = 52.5A .... I can live with that ............

Finished mine today. AUW is 11.7 ounces with a 3S1320 lipo. 230 watts per pound should make it fly rather well. Running a 3200 KV Wicked JR motor.

They all look fabulous till the first few launches !!

My next ones will not have paint jobs at all .... too much hassle to touch up. I shall use shrink covering film - only trouble then is that any stress cracks etc. will be hard to see.

I reckon my next will be so outlandish in colour scheme, no-one will want to launch it !!

168 km/h today on 3 cells

186 km/h on 4 cells .

It was so windy today that I couldn't make any nice straight pass and didn't dare to let it go far enough to max out the speed .

This is my new favorite plane . What a blast to fly .

Don

You could try with one of your wicked 2700 on 4 cells or the 3000 on 3 cells .
They should be perfect motors for this beast

The blue is Testors Model Master "Blue Angel Blue" and the yellow is just a can of enamel from the local hardware store I had.

Yes it would be a rocket. I think the next one will have that setup as the airframes are sure cheap enough!

It's true that I am going up in speed slowly .
That's my character to enjoy as long as possible any speed increase before I move on.
I am still experimenting on my CG that was too much forward at the top end of the fingers hole.

I managed to fix my pitot tube but still had problems with it and when it finally started to work , I had only two batteries left .

When I am sure about the actual speed by repeated measures, then I'll prop up for a 4,75x5,5 to get a little bit more pitch .

If that's not enough , there is still the 5,25 x 6,25 to try but that could be pushing a bit on the motor .

186 km/h was with a 15 mph tail wind so I believe that the ground speed was far above 200 km/h and it felt insanely fast for such a small airframe .

The plane was holding fine at thoses speed without any reinforcement but I could see my wing shaking !! It would be wise of me to add some spar in it before it desintegrates in flight .
