Funbuild 4 "Rubber Conversions"
FunBuild 4 Contest " Rubber Conversions" This thread is for messages to participants in the FunBuild 4 contest . Other messages will be deleted by the moderator . Opening Statement : After the success of the previous Funbuild contests , and much positive feedback I have decided to continue with a "theme" for this years contest . As with prior contests , the objective is to promote modeling featuring conversion to electric power of rubber power designed models from fellow RC Group members of all skill levels . Contest is open to all registered RC Groups members . Ground Rules for contestants : Summary : To build a "Single Engine" sport scale electric powered model ( civil or military )from the existing rubber powered plans or kits in the following categories : 1. Plan/Kit Built - Unmodified ( Built to original size ) 2. Plan Built -Modified ( Enlarged ) 3. Scratchbuilt - ( Stick & tissue type construction ) Definitions : Definition of Rubber Powered : Any Single Engine Sport Scale ( Civilian or Military ) model aircraft designed originally for rubber powered flight . Definition of Conversion : The needed changes required to convert a rubber powered model to electric powered flight ( Motor mount , battery trays , hatches , servo mounts ... Any needed "stregthening" for motor mounting and LG or Wing mounting . Kit Definition : Any kit or short kit model ( of any age ) that supplies the needed formers , ribs , plans etc . eg : Guillows , Dumas , Herr Engineering , Comet , Dare Hobby , Easybuilt Models ... Plans Definition : Anything where you start with "plans only" and need to supply all needed materials for your build . Scratchbuilt Definition : Design of your own making from 3-view drawings . Any drawing method ( CAD , pencil & paper drafting , etc...) In order to stay within the "Rubber Conversions" theme , all Scratchbuilt designs must be of "stick & tissue" type construction to be eligible . Time frame for entries : Beginning registration : November 30 , 2010 ( December 21 , 2010 for Scratchbuild entries ) End Registration :April 30 , 2011 Contest End Date :June 26 , 2011 ( July 31 , 2011 for "Scratchbuild" entries ) Notification of entries : All entries must submit by via PM to the moderator a link to a build thread of their respective entries with the lead title : FunBuild 4 ( name / type of model ) Note : A detailed build thread is NOT required . Minimum Build Thread Requirements : 1. Photo of the framed "un-covered" model 2. Finished photo of model 3. At least one good inflight photo of model ( or video ) 4. Photo or "screenshot" of plans ( For Scratchbuilders only ) Completed Entries : Any contestant which completes their respective entry is encouraged to post their models photos in the "Official" Contest thread at time of completion so as to be credited and included in the final voting . OK, Thanks John for again running this Fun Build. I have really enjoyed watching all the FF conversions and contest entries.

The Sterling Aeronca C-3 is ready to fly. Here's a few pictures on the bench with a photo of the real plane I attempted to replicate. I have added some field shots and a video of the maiden. Read the last few entries of the blog to get a better description of the flight.

Funbuild 4 Culver V at 150%
Hi John, I decided I'd best post some build pics for the Culver, she's flown a few times now and she flies very well but the flight pics are a non event yet. I took some video on my point 'n shoot but windows movie maker wont edit a quicktime file. We were so intent on movies we took no stills! Next time we both forgot the camera. Now our club field is temporarily closed & anyway I'm recovering from a body repair job. Hopefully it'll all come together in time. Whatever it's been fun, thank you for your organising of this event. Regards, Dick

20" DGA-3 Pete is Complete
That Culver is sweet like pie!
Alright, John. Here's my project, done as its gonna get by 7/30. The Pete has flown twice and has proven airworthy, if a bitng this undernourished on a 1S Parkzone brushed setup. Thanks for the challenge! Trying something this small with the brick was alot of fun. Paul |
