I always thought about building one....the taileron control seems so elegant, but I wonder if there was enough authority with that system?

I'm not sure if that's a page out of Dream Catcher Hobbies catalog or not but they used to make a kit of it and then someone bought the mold's when DCH went out of business, and as far as I know hasn't been kitted since. I would've liked to have had one since I'm a retired Grummanite and made a few thousand part's that went on it.

Jose,

Here's a clip from an ad for VS-Sailplanes (Ken Stur's Company) from Slope Soaring News, March 1990. Good info. Pdfs of Slope Soaring News are available online and there's a lot of good reading from the late 80's and 90's.

I was given an F14 PSS that was (is?) very similar to the Zulu that I converted to tailerons (as well as ailerons) at one stage. The roll rate was improved, but not to a huge extent and I reverted it back to normal ailerons.

Has since been passed on to a friend so can't give you any more info other than it was a pig to get the CG at a good spot.

I have a zulu it used to be my main jet bullet but don't fly it much anymore
since I got a slope scale F-20. now it sits a the back of the I'll get to it line
I first had it set up with tailerons with a christy mixer and then with a
computer radio. flew like a manhole cover with tailerons. then swithed it
to ailerons with servo's in the wings and flew like a regular sloper.
still have the full size plans maybe I'll pull it out and do some work on it

Ok here you go this is what a well worn zulu looks like after many years flying
I stripped the fuse cut some new tail feathers put new leading edges and tips on wings. replaced aileron hinges now to get rid of nearly twenty years of bad fuse repairs:
