the stock prop flies the plane well - just not too fast - the 9x7.5e makes her come alive

I will be trying a APC 9x7 on my mustang this weekend. thanks for the advice

be wary - i landed mine today on the belly and the firewall came apart - nothing broke - just came apart where the glue was - SO double check - maybe drop some CA on the edges

The fire wall came apart on mine to at the bottom. they really need to start doing a better job on these ARFs I think my next plane will be a kit that way I know it will be well built. GREAT PLANES get it together

You mean Hobbico get it together, they are the manufacturers so to speak and distribuitor for the Tower Hobbies Mustang.
In reality, Tower Hobbies is owned by Hobbico. They are one and the same company just like all the E-Flite airplanes which are made by Seagull in Vietnam.

Finally got to run a battery through mine, it was still a bit windy for my tastes I'm still only in my 1st year....

But anyway, I made a comment earlier about the landing gear seeming pretty strong and maybe they had done some work to them I'd like to retract that :-)

I never got it in the air before they broke, wound up hand launching.
no big I knew they were POS but just wanted to correct my earlier statement.

Now to go back and find that LG set folks have used with success.

Prolly should do a tail wheel while I'm at it.

Over all I'm happy it was my first flight of a P-51 it was very windy 10-15 MPH and at times with a 9.5 prop it barely was able to go into the wind I'm happy. I'll keep that prop on for a few till I get used to it and need some more speed then I'll toss on the 9x7.5

Thanks for all the good ideas everyone, I did wind up doing a bunch of MODs before I flew it and I'm glad I did. I would have lost an Aileron control rod first flight out if I had not read about the issues here and spotted it on mine before I flew and rebuilt them with some good rods!

I've be looking for the same landing gear that comes with the P-51 but can't find them on Tower's site. Would anyone know where I could find them, I also need the plastic mounts?

Good find, I wish they had some specs (the other ne did not) I'll look at these, I think I'll wind up buying some piano wire and making something, we don't have any real LHS in the area and I can get raw materials at a few places.

I'll take a look at those though if they have length on them they look like a winner.

but the plastic mounts are on the wing set

I've had mine for only a week. The motor is the cheapest thing I've ever seen. Looks like it's plastic, but really cheap. It burned out after the fourth flight.

But it flies better than the Pkz Mustang any day, and the landings are incredibly smooth and gr-easy.

Gosh, if Pkz offered the F4F with landing gear, I would've bought one a year ago. Good idea using Corsair (or is it P47?) L.G.
