Funny you should ask THAT!

I found one minor issue and that was that the nose gear was jarred loose in shipping. A little epoxy and I had that all taken care of.

The main gear look especially sweet! Now to get a receiver installed and get the gear cycling .. and then get this built.

I need a lunch break though now. And I have a few errands/chores I need to get accomplished. Ugh!

Back a little later with more

It's now @ the Nitroplanes website.

Available as kit, ARF, and RTF; in Blue Angels, Diamondbacks and Jolly Rogers color schemes.

I think understand what Andy is talking about: You get what you pay for/you pay for what you get.

I hope it holds true with this model. The landing gear look ESPECIALLY scale and well built, and are quite specific to the F-18. If they operate as good as they look and won't break after a few cycles or a hard landing, then I think they're worth it.

How many times have we replaced parts on ARFs after the maiden (or even prior) because the stock components suck? Hopefully this is the answer to the crys for quality. I'm very interested in hearing more as things develop.

I agree that the price is on the very high end of the scale, but if the quality is there to back the price then I don't see much to complain about. We shall see!

That landing gear comming lose is common ....they paint then glue the retracts and paint peels off easy from foam....it should be pure foam where they glue anything together....quality control doesn't seem to exist

I loved my last 70mm Exceed F/A-18 from a few years ago...

Just ordered the Red Viper Retract Kit, if your ordering, you guys remember to type in "NITRO5" for a 5% discount

Thanks for the pics Bajora! Are most of you ordering the Kit w/Metal Retracts as opposed to the RTF?

Well I waffled back and forth all day and finally pulled the trigger on the ARF Diamonbacks version with the electric retracts. What finally swayed me was how nice their Mig-15 flies, this one should be just as nice.

He also mentions in post#16:
Question to Andy:
"Also, are the retracts build strong, and how are the hear doors attached? I'm just hoping the gear doors are attached without the method of a string like LX models, but more like RC Lander who uses spring loaded gear doors."

His Reply:

"Thank you
This is a EXCEED-RC products.
You know where you can buy, their price is very good.
Contraction is digital, I believe you will be satisfied.
Need to install the door yourself. According to your own thoughts."

So it sounds like gear doors are included, you just have to mount them yourself.

Bajora, if they are included, can you post up some pics of the gear doors?
Thanks

Wow, I didn't know it came with gear doors. I'll mount them myself, no problem. Bajora, did yours come with gear doors to install?

Would love to pick one of these up but the $117 shipping bill to send it to Australia just isn't worth it! Are there any alternatives out there?

Looks like the included gear doors will not completely cover the main carriage wheel wells; the retract mounts remain exposed. Not necessarily a big deal.
