Well I'm flying mine with a lander 68mm unit on high timing so at 4 min that gives me a enough time for a gear pass and a go around if I need to

So just a tip guys on my jet it snaps to the right on a power off stall so for those putting bigger edf units beware of it but you can use that to do some cool maneuvers

Is the ESC braking function turned on? Sounds like when you abruptly throttle down, the motor and fan halt, and conservation of momentum imparts a rolling impulse force. To avoid this, you can either reprogram the ESC to turn braking off, or just throttle down slower.

Took mine out for the first time tonight. I took off for the infield of a local softball field. She got up quick but was initially sluggish in the air. I think it was because I pulled it up to early.

My gear doors got suck to the up position on rotation so I could not pull the gears up. I guess I will lengthen the strings to open the doors more.

On my final approach, I flared to a nice high aoa and greased her in along the 2nd base line. after opening the gear doors by hand and flipping the switch....the gears went up and would not go into the well. The shafts on the main gears bent!

I took it home and got all the kinks straightened out. Has anybody else had this issue. I put her down pretty smooth and did not expct to bend anything.

Yes I've had that problem just about every time I land the thing I've found that a fast smooth landing on pavment helps with the issue. but I made my rear wheel whales bigger with a dermal tool. And other then that I just bend the things back but there are some what of a pain and save your self the time on the gear doors they will not work unless
You use a servo

Like John said, I too just enlarged the wheel wells a bit with my dremel. I too would remove the main gear doors. Both John and I messed with ours for hours to get them working right on the bench, but once your airborne they don't work worth a darn.

Hopefully I can get my next kit soon so that I can have her ready for the Airshow at our Naval Base next month. Our club flies early in the morning every time the Airshow comes down here. I may build a Blue Angel version, since they will be performing.

Has anybody gotten the rear doors to work ? I may plug the wheel wells so it does not create the cheater hole/vacuum effect that sucks the doors up. I will cut some 6mm depron discs and glue them in.

If only I did not have to sleep then I would have a lot more time to fly.

Took her out again last night. The doors are almost impossible to operate with the strings. Upon rotation the slipstream pushes them shut. I did several goes at it and no luck. Back to the drawing board.

Maybe one could get a very small servo like a 2.5g servo and use that to operate the gear doors, it might be an idea worth messing with I think.
