Naaaa, this should be a good one for the Brown Jr. event. AUW should be about 42 oz. and that puts her in the 9 oz./sq.ft range. It's balls to the wall climb with fire belching from both stacks. I love the smell of hot steel and methanol in the morning....it smells like....victory.

Going back a bit in the convo, ran across the advert for the "Rocket" that caused the demise of Bill's Rocket engine maker.

Bill,
I'm sure it has been ran but has very low hours on it. There are no marks on the piston whatsoever from running and it's exceedingly clean. I say it's been run because there are the telltale dents on the intake bypass from the optional exhaust stack, plus the little stains from 70 wt. oil on some bits. The tank is missing but it's common for them to go bad and get chucked. Tanks are readily available in metal so methanol can used for fuel. The points are ones I've not had on a Brown before with a screw connection for the point lead instead of the solder lug. The plug wrench is marked Junior Engines round the sides. Serial number is 12833D so I think it's a 1939 model engine, D models have a ringed piston also. It is a nice one and I got a box now too .

Maybe video this week,I want to hear this one run.

ignition engine kit

Bill, time to distract you.
Here is a kit engine for you. All the hard parts have been machined.
There are some very talented people out there who are very good at what they do. At Toledo, there was a V8 gas car engine that had a super charger, and ran it did. Here's an aircraft engine by a different modeler (EBay). Maybe Chad would let you into his machine shop to play on the big lathe?

Bob, This is a good place to start,

"Not wishing to hijack this thread, but its developed into about the only "vintage model engine" thread to be found on any of the forums. As a collector (and I'll no doubt get howled down for this) could we not expand it by including vintage glow engines in this discussion as well ? The majority will vote & decide with their mouse ! BOB "

This is the ignition and old time gas, glow engine thread.

Bill............what have you got to say?
