No You'r not mistaken,
At first when the Morton M5 came out the engine was sold as a 'MORTON' later on 'BURGESS' took over the Morton production rights and since then it was sold as a 'BURGESS-MORTON M5'
The engines were sold as a complete ready to run engine and as a building kit.
The first 'MORTON' engines did not have serial numbers, Under the production of 'BURGESS' the engines did became serial numbers.

Danny, not that it detracts in any way the value of it, see what Peter Chinn wrote of the Morton. I'd still like one ! BOB

Bob,
I know, as I can remember, the Morton M5 whas intentionally meant as a learning project for the US army. Have to dig up my copy's of the 'Model Engine Collectors Journal' from Tim Dannels, the history of the Morton/Burgess is explained in one of them.
regards,
Danny.

Can any of our European friends enlighten us further on the new 4 cylinder Damo ? Called (I believe) the DALFS 436, this flat-four is basically 2 Damo's melded together. Must be spark, as it has electronic ignition, and only 30 to be made. The price ? (take an aspirin first) 50,000 Swedish Kronor (that's a mere $7,654 in Aussie $ ) Who will be the first on the block to have one ? BOB

Bob, have to agree with You but I have to ask myself the same question, how do I afford one. Guess I have to live with the fact that we can't have it all. And there are other things in life than just engines. See, that helped already
regards,
Danny

Danny, the worst thing about being a collector of any object is, we can look back with 20/20 hindsight and say, God ! - I wish I had bought one of those when they were so cheap. As an example - here in Australia (back in 1970) you could have purchased a brand new Ford Falcon GT-HO for about five grand. In the last couple of years, these cars have sold for 3/4 of a million dollars, but who would have known that 40 years ago ? And besides, $5000 was a lot of money in 1970. These new flat-four Damo's MAY be worth a lot of money in the year 2051, but if I'm still alive, I'll be 104 - will I care how much money I can sell the thing for ? Nah. BOB

Bob, if we could go back in time once for a short period and with some cash We would both be rich now.
And probably have a lot more engines. I already imagine visiting a model shop back then and see all these engines laying on the shelf.

Finally got her on the bench today. Didn't wind her up as she needs some run in time yet. Fuel is SEF94 and 70 wt. mixed 4:1 as per Brown Jr manual and she's swinging a 13 x 6 Zinger prop. I'll switch to a metal tank later and try her on methanol/castor mix after some running.
