Here is a picture and build log link it has evolved over time But I am real!!!! happy with set up as pictured only differance is there were 3 camras on it in the picture now the Go pro is in the center and the only one. I took FPV camra and TX off untill I get my own goggles for now I fly it while looking at it.
WAITING ON GPS TO TEST FLYING IT ON MISSIONS BY IT SELF ALSO.

Hey Earl,

Yes, definitely not your scenic type video :-) Although it is a testament to how well the Hoverfly handles. You're correct, smooth, low forward flight can be tricky via FPV, the Hoverfly helps a lot.

I have to admit I'm not using the Hoverfly OSD feature though. As much as I would like to use it, I REALLY need to see my RSSI signal strength for my own peace of mind so I'm using a Cyclops Easy OSD. It's not really super accurate, as you can tell, but it is helpful. On a side note, when you first use an OSD don't get caught up looking at it too much, ask me how I know

You definitely want to mostly fly forward when flying FPV, hovering is difficult as it's tough to judge how much you're moving.

3D cameras and goggles would be interesting to try. I've read some people that are experimenting with that now.

Thanks,
Paul

Looks like forward flight is the way to learn fpv. I've been trying to hover and I end up going backwards because of the lack of depth perception. I think some of us older guys could really benefit from 3D but it's just not there yet in terms of price/weight/quality.

Hey Matt,

I'm using an elcheapo HK 900MHz 800mw FPV camera/VTx/VRx combo.

I was having some serious video and control range issues when I was on my 2.4GHz Spektrum control gear. Everything seems to work a lot better now that I'm on the UHF Chainlink control gear. My video is a lot clearer and I have more range with a lot less static and dropouts.

I do use a Vee antenna on the quad and a Patch antenna on the ground. I just added an Eagle Eyes diversity system on the ground so I can use two receivers, one with the patch and one with the stock omni antenna. This works especially well when I need to fly behind me.

Also, I use channel 3 on the system which I think is a little higher than 900Mhz. I used channel 0 which is 900Mhz and it was TERRIBLE.

Thinking of using a 500mw 900mhz instead.

Good stuff kjella! Some epic scenery and some nice shots. The actor kind of cracked me up but it was a fun video to watch. Way more interesting than mine.

Which frame are you using for this? I know you had a couple. Are you useing a fixed mount camra for goggles or a gimbal?

I just ordered my camra mount so I can get started with that feature and use the HF out put instead of fixed mount.

Thanks! I think I was at about 400 ft. I had the camera pointed a little to low however, I would have liked to have a nice straight horizon

This is my home made aluminum arm frame with center plates from Vic-20 here on RCGroups. The GoPro is on a fixed mount. I also have a separate FPV cam on it's own fixed mount. I would like to add a gimbal but this small frame I'm using is at its weight capacity!

That's a nice looking little GoPro gimbal, report back on how well it works!

Paul,

Could you please tell me what fpv gear you are using and what camera. Is it a Gopro? I have a Gopro and was thinking of buying Fatshark fpv gear, like this one:

Also what motors and props are you using?

VERY NICE VIDEO BTW!

Regards
