Buy a couple spares. That tends to keep fate at bay. Then every time you look in the drawer and see them you can grumble at the wasted money.

Let me take a wild guess here... you exclaimed, "Damnandblastit!" ?

Certainly not having a good weekend - 2 planes crashed. I never used to have near do's with the cub but now I am getting a little tired of buzzing sedately round, doing loops and flying upside down, so am starting to take it out in stronger winds for the buzz..

Today with half throttle it was almost stationary over the ground with the gusts at times so it was a bit lairy.

I will have to do the aileron mod and flatten the wing almost right out with duck tape on the underside to get a bit more of a challenge. Perhaps when I have spun the AT6 into oblivion.

Last night I had the SC on the bench and I said to myself, let's add the battery and run in the brushed motor and also see how much battery life I had left after flying earlier.

While the motor was at half throttle on the bench after 3 minutes, the motor shut down. The prop doesn't spin at all with input.

So, I'm thinking the crappy guts in terms of the ESC, or something like that which I was reading last night here in the SC forum. It has weak quality and it appears I have smoked an ESC or a reciever.?? The plane just died, shut down at at the 33 minute mark.??

Thoughts please....

And, if so I am right, is this the time to go to a E-flight set up with the 480 brushless.?? I'm a beginner but can now get the plane in the air and bring it down with no damage. I think I'd likle the BL 480.

480 is like crazy power. it will be nose heavy. 450 is better, but it is up to you. I have both and the 480 is on the heavier bird with all the flaps. Speed is higher all around due to the weight and extra prop it can handle.

No more bent LG..

I think I finally fixed my landing gear for good.. I used some plastic rod ends from an old RC car and CA'd a 1/16" carbon rod to them, slid one end over the wire gear and screwed the other end to the rear float mount..

Oh, man. I just put the battery in and and I've got power.?? All operations work.!!

I'm noticing my prop shafts and spinning with slight wabble. I'm thinking the bearing, spacer is blown.??

Why does the prop shaft have wobble.?? I believe the shaft is straight when rolled on a smooth surface.

Also, does a 450 brushless motor equal the power of the stock 480 that is in a Super Cub.??

I think you will find significantly higher performance from the 450 brushless than from the stock 480-sized brushed motor. At least, that was my experience with the eFlite 450 I put in my built-from-parts SC.

Hi Ron, could you elaborate a bit more to us in the red highlight please? I could almost take that sentence to mean you are draining your battery down.

Mike.

I like the idea of the extra struts. But in a heavy and even a not so heavy landing, the gear gets bent back. So could that cause damage to the extra rods.
I would have thought that the extra bracing would be towards the nose.
How is the camera held on, Velcro? It could come off in flight. Or even a bad landing. it would be hard to find in grass. It does happen. I would suggest that you had a lanyard fitted.

Yes, I was ru8nning a battery down. My post should have read "3 minute mark." I've got to edit my post.

Honestly, I would rather have the 450 brushless. Perfect. But, I'm not quite ready. I need to put a string of good flights together first.

I am amazed at how bet up my plane got and how easy it was to rebuild it. Here's a couple pictures of that nice paint job gone bad. What a long strange trip it's been...

Hey, wop...

I just came across some info from 2 different sources that now has me leery of using the Power Up dsm2 Rx I bought from HURC. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a couple of the Lemon-Rx receivers... just want to get your thoughts first... and do you think the end pin version would be better to use in the SC than the top pin?
