I have the water rudder installed. It was windy that day, so I'm sure that had an impact on the flight

The snow is falling so the floats are getting ready to be put on the Night Cub..Night flying over snow will be cool......

How much fun have I had today guys!!!!
Only managed a quick flight as the wind had got up, but take off and landing were great!
I'm hoping for a bright calm morning tomorrow.
The great advantage is I can take off and fly from the field next to my house which is normally way too bumpy.

Thanks Chap, yes but only briefly. Having a slight convex section they track really well, and can still manage a turn on compacted ice thanks to the wee ski at the rear.

I'll try and get some video tomorrow if condiitons permit.

Yes, Mike... that's the one. If you want it, open it there first before you buy it and test the plastic cones... I had one that was really out of balance, which, like I said, the manager told me is common with this one. There's a ring shape when you look at a cone from the big end... mine wasn't even centered inside the outer edge, it was off to one side. It would take some assembling of the entire unit to be able to test it while spinning it... might not be worth the hassle when the Dubro only costs a little more and everyone I know who uses it loves it... again, you can do many more things with it and it won't have the weight limitation the other one has if you want to balance other things besides props. You'll keep the Du-Bro for life... money well spent imo.

You can make a DIY version with bearings and a some shaft that you know is straight (or buy some of the replacement shaft and cones for other balancers) but you might end up at the same cost anyway.

Yup, that's the one.

Here's something I used it for that I wouldn't have been able to do with the magnetic one even if it wasn't defective. I modded a 1-1/4" Du-Bro spinner's collet to fit a 4mm shaft and then needed to balance it... the spinner end needs to be free hanging... can't do that with the other one

Mike... Just to ballance the prop only, I just C clamped a small screwdriver to a table edge and stuck the prop thru the screwdriver. I applied ca to the lighter blade till I got it to balance. Worked out fine for my pop wing. My cost was $0.00, had the screwdriver and clamp. Call me cheap! Capt'n Ron

I did use a jeweler screwdriver that had a highly polished shank.
