Prop down. It'll run cooler.

Hey guys - I'm installing a Turnigy 2217 16turn 1050kv 23A Outrunner from hobbyking with an APC 9x6 prop. I'm not sure how to mount the prop. Using four various adapters, I've come up with the following as a best guess:

Is this right?

The shaft is a little wobbly in the adapter holes. Will tightening the nut secure everything or am I supposed to drill out the smaller adapters for a tighter fit?

Too wobbly will cause it to be out of balance. Keep as little play as possible. Ream out a smaller adapter.

The big silver washer goes the other (nut) side of the prop.

The prop goes directly up against the prop adapter.

The APC prop comes with various inserts to ensure a good fit. You will find one in that set that goes over the threads just... that is the one to use. Push it into the bottom (life side in pic above) of the prop and than push prop and washer onto the prop adapter.

I've never seen the plastic washer between the prop and the nut in your pic. The only thing necessary between the prop and the nut is the aluminium washer.

Cheers

Care to share the tweaks you did? I looked at the settings but it made my brain fizzle out. I have just been flying it stock in Clearview with the e-sky USB controller.

Soon as I get some free time I want to get the glued and improved aussie super cub out there!

Under 'easy model set up' set you ailerons, elevator and rudder all to 20 and leave expo at 0.

Under 'Advanced model setup" scroll up to the 'M' section and find 'max speed' and change them both to 60.0 Right in that same spot at max speed, you'll find max thrust, change the max thrust to 70.0

I played around with other settings but the above is how I'm flying it now. I just discoverd that even though they are not visible, it behaves on water as though it has floats. Anyways, that setup reminds me of my supercub

I set mine to
"Overpowered Outrunner with 80mph wind"

and

"Crash like a idiot every flight"

just to see how NWs plane flies.

What's a good simulator to get to have some fun with? I have FMS with the controller and it works ok but I need something more. Is Clearview worth a darn? Can I fly over Colorado and break the sound barrier with it and wake those boys up? Can I buzz Dale's place with a A10 using G Earth coordinates and and take out his trailer with the vulcan cannon??
