Beat me to it! Low rates will help for sure, presuming you weren't already using low rate.
Don

Also - there is nothing wrong with flying at 1/4 throttle. You'll get longer flights. I have yet to meet anyone that didn't want more power/speed a bit further down the road. You, Sir, have it in reserve and ready to go when you want it!

Secure Rx?

Hi guys,
Putting in a brushless. Had to put in a new Rx too - the ESC wasn't working for some reason with the stock Rx.
My question is: Should I secure the Rx somehow? With what? Tape to the side? Never done this before so I don't know. The ESC seems like it should be fine in the little carveout I made in the nose. But its not secured either. That ok?
Pic attached.
Thanks.

If I were you I'd secure both items in place to stop them moving around. Tape for the RX should be fine but you might need to zip tie the esc to the firewall to keep it in place.

That cub's seen some action by the looks of things

velcro or a little glue should be enough to keep it in one place, or servo tape...ir whatever you can think of really. just dont leave it loose, that's just asking for something to pop loose at the wrong time.

cog is 8.5~9cm (about 3.5 inches) back from leading edge. is this going to be an issue or is it flyable as-is?

clarification - what i mean is flyable without having to add nose weight

3.5 sounds too far back.
2.5 is about where mine seems the happiest.
Look for links to the mod that lets the battery stand up straight in the component bay.
It keeps the battery right up against the firewall helping get the cg a little more forward

Secure your stuff!
A blob of hot glue works great to hold your receiver.
I like Goop for my ESC, doesn't loosen like hot glue if it gets warm.

thanks. btw, my plane looks nothing like yours. i build my own pc's and even they don't look that organized with the wiring. i guess i'm just a slob. sawing away atm to make way for the straight standing battery. thanks for the pic, it helps.

standing battery moved cog to 3" behind LE. so it trimmed it down half and inch. thats pretty good IMO.

I didn't exactly pay attention to your instructions, my apologies. Cut out the last plastic strip preventing battery from being flat against firewall. Moved COG to 2.8. Good enough for me. I can fly it from here. Thanks for the practical solution jetpackninja.
