Hi Steven I have exactly the same problem target doesn't answer only I have followed the instructions to the letter and have the jumper cable installed. I have been playing around that much thinking it was a bad connection I decided to bypass the pogo pins and hard wired the connections instead. I have sent an e-mail to your website but with it being the weekend you probably won't see it until Monday. Any other suggestions would be brilliant.

Thanks

[assuming you have the Rev 2.4] If you look closely between the two right-most 6-pin white connectors, I'd bet you would see evidence of burning.

Those two connectors are basically a "mirror" of each other. So the "outside" pins are connected together, then the next ones, and so on. To put it another way, if you assume they are numbered 1 through 6 from left to right, then its like this:

pin 1 on the left connector connects to pin 6 on the right
pin 2 to pin 5
pin 3 to pin 4
pin 4 to pin 3
....
pin 6 to pin 1

Using a multimeter, you can figure out which pair is broken and solder a small wire to re-connect them. Its probably 2/5.

- Steven

ps. You can thank the SP board for the fact your "radio still works without it though". That burned trace acted as a fuse, protecting your main board from certain (but repairable) death.

Hello, I've just installed the Backlight from HK for the Turnigy 9x, but when the radio is turned OFF, the backlight keeps flashing on and off. So when turned ON 100% up, it is all OK, when turned OFF 100% down, backlight flashes!, and if I just push the button up 10% it stops flashing. Any idea? Shorting on the backlight? Any fixes?

Err... that should be kinda impossible. With the radio OFF there should be no battery power to make anything flash. So I'd say your problem is with your physical on/off switch.

Received my V2.4 board yesterday, 6 days delivery to UK, nice.

All in good condition, just need to wait for my new FlySky 9x to turn up.

Could have used the 2.1? with EL from my other 9X but that is still going strong so got the updated board for the new one.

I got my v2.4 today, very easy to install on my turnigy 9x, I installed the drivers and then I connected the USB cable, it worked..
UNTIL I touched the mini USB on the transmiter (I was tring to acomodate it in the case) and i think I shorted something with my fingers because I heard a bit like electricity on the speakers and at the same time windows gives me an error about device disconected and stops recognizing the hardware.
I keep trying connecting the transmiter in 3 diferent computers and using 4 or 5 different USB cables, but windows doesnt show even a message about new hardware found, as it did the first time... maybe I burned the board or the miniUSB port? I'd apreciate any help!

EDIT:
ok, the board is fine! It was just that I damaged the cables on the back of the microusb and they were not making proper contact.
And I just flashed openTx
:-)

Lost in Er9x Land

Hello all, I will apologize in advance. I bought two 9x transmitters about 14 months ago. I have one from HK it's a Turnigy brand the other is branded FrSky. I have installed a smartie parts card in each one and a backlite kit in each, one blue and one green. I got started with the setup and then had some big health issues (heart attack, 5 way bypass)

Now I am getting back to normal and have gotten the radios out and tried to get back at it.

I have eePe on my computer and both transmitters have er9x installed but somehow I ended up with two different versions and some differences in the Splash screens and even the home screens.

On the Turnigy unit I have:

SUN: er9x-r803
VERS: V1.1481-Mike
DATE: 07.08.2013
TIME: 19:29:08
MOD:

On the FrSky unit I have:

SUN: er9x-r810
Vers: V1.352-Mike
DATE: 17.0202014
TIME: 19:30:23
MOD:

I have two models setup on the Turnigy Transmitter and have ground tested those airplanes successfully. I can work my way throught the menus and now plan to build a few more airplanes and another quadcopter that will be my first lanes using this system. I am moving over from Spektrum DX7s. I originally used 72mHz Futaba 7Cs.

Right now I can't seem to communicate wit the units using the PC. I also woyuld like to upgrade both to the latest firmware which I see a release from Jan 10th, 2015. I have lost track of it right now but think it was a v 818.

If I update the firmware am I going to lose the two models I have setup on the Turnigy tx. I have a model setup on the other one but the plane is not complete yet.

So How can I reload these units with the latest firmware and how can I verify the communication issues/problems I seem to have.

This is a 64bit Win7 machine that I am using here but I have two other 32 bit machines available to use. If that could be the issue.

I hope this makes sense to someone here.

Sudsy

aah. It's all starting to come back now.

Not quite as lost as I thought.

Not sure quite where you are at by now, but one simple answer is that it's easy to save existing models. You just hook up to eePe and use it to "Read memory from Tx." That gets you a window within eePe which you can save as a backup to the computer by using "save as."

You can edit the models on the computer and load the file back onto to transmitter. That will also reload the settings, including stick calibration. Note that recent versions of the firmware may require changes in the models anyway, so check them carefully after you open in a new version.

Make sure you have a reasonably recent version of eepe to make sure you are getting the appropriate versions of the firmware. I was using one from last April for quite a long time, though it has recently been updated.

Thanks for the reply first!

I am still a little confused.

I have these two 9x transmitters and they definitely are different in some way.

I have a few different types of modules for the 9x. I have tried to compare the screens to each other and have found that one of the transmitters with the Orange DSM2/DSMX module will not bind with a spektrum receiver. Only one of the two transmitters!!!

#1 is a Turnigy 9x with er9x v er9x-r803, V1.1481-Mike, and a smartieparts board.

#2 is a FlySky 9x with er9x (but for some reason loads differently)
er9x-r810, V1.352-Mike, and a smartiepart board.

Why is this?

Steve

Well, one was flashed with er9x v er9x-r803 while the other was flashed with er9x-r810, V1.352. Update them both and Bob - as they say - is your uncle.

You mentioned some non-specific trouble with the flashing process. i'll refer you to our troubleshooting page.

Ok I have reloaded both eePe and AVRDUDE on each of my two PCs. Now what is the latest er9x firmware and where do I find it?

eePe should search, and find the updates automatically if your PC is connected to the internet.
