The back light can be turned on and off from inside the flashed firmware (by switch or time or any way you want almost)
Updating and flashing firmware can be done from windows linux or mac osx

yes that's the one you want it works, I am fairly sure it works with both 32 and 64, and believe there is even a signed driver for Vista now but I use OSX so I leave it to the windowzzzz users to confirm this

Yes. I am SmartieParts. It works on XP no problem.

I sold out just before that. I think you were one of the first to miss the last batch They are coming, but the switchover from hand-soldering to machine-soldering took some extra time. I expect to ship them out mid to late April. If you don't want to wait, you can either contact me (reply to your order confirmation email so I know your order number) to cancel your order... or actually today I just found one board that got missed, but I'm missing a part for the EL so it would be a programmer-only (or you have to do a little work). Again, contact me if you want that one.
