Happy New Year to you as well Ryan and to the rest of the crew around here as well!

I started off the morning in what I would love to be the usual way. I flew my bird. We have been fortunate with mild temperatures during the holidays. That has meant that I have been able to get in the air quite a bit. There was a bit of wind yesterday and this morning. Fortunately I have missed the brunt of it.

Over the last few days, I have been working on my lipos. I have storage charged all of my 2200 maH units for the winter. I decided to let this Power Lab 8 charger further earn its keep by pampering my 6S units. After I got back from flights this morning, I started discharging each of them, one at a time. I let them all sit for awhile. Then I charged them, one at a time at 1C. Yes, I could have discharged and charged all four at once. I figure this will help keep all the cells in balance. I made sure to record the cell voltages of each pack while it was fully discharged. While charging, I monitored the internal resistance of each cell. This lets me know if I have any weak cells. Finally I checked the voltage of each cell when the pack was fully charged.

I also decided to buy another four Gens Ace 6S 5300 maH 30C packs. Unfortunately none of my local LHS had any of these in stock. This meant that I had to break-in a new on-line vendor. I went with Hobby-Partz. They seem to have a decent reputation. We will see how it goes.

Happy 2012!!

I brought my axial wraith with fpv setup over to a friend's house tonight. We lined it in to his TV which I watched while he looked out the window, we played hide and go seek. His b-day is coming up, he wants an fpv system now :-)

Hey Ryan! As I was flying this morning in the mild weather of the Tropic of Vancouver, I paused for a moment (a very small moment) to think of you and the weather you are having in your part of the country. What was that high temperature I heard today? -11C or 12F? Then there was the snow. Apparently there is a lot of snow in your part of the country. At least that gives you time to work on your builds.

Its snow today, but we still don't have as much as usual.

The weather has been very odd here for the past 12 years or so; winters are not what they used to be.

Weather has been mild, then cold, then mild (snow), then cold again; its highly annoying especially for driving.

I have been building a lot yes lol.

Just finished a new 28" 3D foamie, design is based on a Canadian Vendor.
Mine is built from FFF however and not depron

http://www.foamydisc.com/foamy%20mayhem.html

Working on a UM wing that is milled and covered for lightness, will be 3 ch using champ guts.

Also have a 23" WS Extra 300, much like the Eflite UM version, cept this will be using beast guts.

I have some other ideas I wish to work on as well.

No one has made an offer on my for sale items, ie, Belt CPX and 120 SR

Can you say gouge and ripoff?

I just confirmed this one. Of all places in this country, Iqaluit has the highest rents in the country! $2200.00 for a two bedroom. Whitehorse comes in second at $1500.00

I can't see a compelling reason to live in either place for even a third of the rent.

My wife and I rent a two bdrm and it's not that high but it's close. We are saving to buy a home but we're not sure where in this country to buy from. We really do love Whitehorse but it's so far from our families in Ontario and that's only going toget harder when we have our baby. Eventually our folks will get old too. We've considered the east coast, nice houses and a quick flight from Ottawa, it would only work if my wife got a transfer within the government though. I hate thinking about it all, it's such a hard decision.

On a side note, I had my first flight on my 72"wingspan orni I today. :-)

Gas up here is always a fixed price, no ups and downs. There is no rush hour and you never have to drive far :-)

Just had first flight

Not bad

Very stable and more power than I figured.

Controls are:

Left stick is throttle

right stick is elevator and rudder.

Being that I am Mode 1 which is

Left Stick Elevator and rudder

Right stock - Throttle and Aileron

This is a little funny for me to fly; I can do it, but have to think about it, plus I always wanna use throttle as elevator lol.

For $50 I am happy

EXCEPT - damn Horizon

The free parts card (which mine didn't come with) only applies to US

Go figure

Just like I never got any of my rebates back

Not having aileron feels odd lol.

This will be my go to relaxing flyer much like my vapor is.
