- Shaft drive tail - allows you to use a larger tail motor at the same time mounting it closer to the heli's COG

I saw this tail rotor mod on another thread. It shows the Solo Pro with a shaft drive tail. Does anyone have more info on this mod? Also is there a parts list?

This looks very cool and I would love to take it on. I have several Solo Pro's and would love to make one my project/mod heli.

Thanks!

You could try sending EQMOD a personal message. As far as I know he is the only one that tried this mod.

Parts from Walkera 4#3B:
tail motor
flybar linkage as shaft support
flybar as axle
2 main motor pinions
tail motor assembly with bearing
Plus MSR tail blade
I found images with precise explanations in red, saved them on disk and it was a good idea because now can't find them on the web anymore. Send message if interested or if the author does not respond.

Looking for the images now. I am going to my LHS tonight to see if they have the Walkera parts in stock or if I need to order. Pretty ingenious using a linkage as shaft guide.

More to come.

EQMod's original MSR tail rotor shaft drive mod was based on Walkera 4#3B parts which was transplanted to the Solo Pro.

In understand your need for this part, but it's neither a technical issue, and you already posted the same request in the Proto Max review thread, and the regular Solo Pro thread. That could be seen as cross posting, and that is generally not appreciated by the site admins...

OK, it's been a while since I posted here. I had a solo pro with what we thought was a broken elev servo. So I finally got my new RX board in and it's the same version, installed and bound it. And it worked for a few cycles, then froze. I removed and replaced the battery and tried again and got one forward back cycle before it became unresponsive. I should have just bought a whole new bird. Never again will I replace a non-mechanical part on this type of heli. So what do I check next? Maybe my old board is OK? This issue occured shortly after installing metal parts that were stiff. I removed the metal swash while installing the new board but left the metal shaft so I could keep the metal head. Everything moves free.

Maybe the metal parts overloaded the new board, and that wrecked the servo? By the way, what batteries were you using again? It seems more board problems are encountered when the batteries, or the battery contact strips are not ok.

No, I was sure to remove the metal swash before installing the new board. It still has the metal shaft and head, but that stuff spins free and does not interfere with the servo action. I remember reading somewhere about EPA adjustments? I will check and clean the battery contacts.

weak batt

I've noticed that a battery that cannot put out enough current , will make you look in the wrong area for a fix, weak or dirty contact also. I learned that from these guys.
