Normally flickering is caused by high frequency vibrations.
Is this with a Droidworx machine? If so make sure the the bolts are over tight on the center plate and motor mounts :-)

Hi!

I am assembling a MK Hexa for a friend as I am retired (free time) and I know a litle bit of electronics.

I would like to put some questions before to start setup the Fl-Ctrl and Poti assignment.

My Friend would like to fly with vario-height control all the time (stick at center), so, I have to setup the neutral position to 127 and assigned it to a Poti. My doubt is in case of switch ON the motors with the altitude control switch OFF what happens? Does the MK takeoff at high speed?

If he doesn't use the vario-height control all the time the "stick neutral point" set to zero and if I want vario altitude control I need to switch ON the assigned switch and the stick position at switch ON must be +/- at the center position, otherwise the MK will go up/down fast. Am I right?

What do you advise to use for a better flight altitude control and stabilization?

Poti assignment:

The wiki advises the following assignment:
- Channel 5 (Poti1) => Function altitude hold
- Channel 6 (Poti2) => Function GPS (PositionHold / ComingHome)
- Channel 7 (Poti3) => Free
- Channel 8 (Poti4) => Function CareFree
- Channel 9 (Poti5) => Camera tilt (Nick)
- Channel 10 (Poti6) => Camera tilt (Roll)
- Channel 11 (Poti7) => Trigger camera & LED on/off
- Channel 12 (Poti8) => Function Motor Protection

The Rx used is a GR-24 with 12 channels output, SUM PPM output is in the channel 8. My friend also wants to use a Sony LANC-Ctrl, so, it is necessary 2 free channels. Another thing I notice in one MK, the trigger camera & LED on/off is a bit slow when it goes through teh Fl-Ctrl. Considering this I thought do the following:

Poti assignment:
- Channel 5 (Poti1) => Function altitude hold
- Channel 6 (Poti2) => Function GPS (PositionHold / ComingHome)
- Channel 7 (Poti3) => Function CareFree
- Channel 8 (Poti4) => Camera tilt (Nick)
- Channel 9 (Poti5) => Camera tilt (Roll)
- Channel 10 (Poti6) => Function Motor Protection
- Channel 11 (Poti7) => Sony LANC-Ctrl directly connected to the RX
- Channel 12 (Poti8) => Sony LANC-Ctrl directly connected to the RX
I thought to use it directly because there is almost no latency.

I please wolud like your some clarifications, comments and advise from you.

Thanks in advance,
Manuel

Manual: If you set it up in MK tool correctly you don't need to assign a poti to the throttle, only for height hold, which is really a separate function. It is a bit confusing.
Most of the info is here:
http://www.mikrokopter.de/ucwiki/en/MX-20
I would suggest, if his is his first MK bird to remove the spring tension, and fly without it first, then add it back later. I would also not assign a motor stop till you get used to arm/disarm. Having to throw a switch can slow disarm down, and is not for a beginner.
fyi: After you check you "channels" you can click on the "OSD" on the main screen and check your Tx switches to confirm things. AH, CH, PH etc.

From the Wiki:

Graupner Transmitter Caution:
Groupner MX-20 users- Remember that because the throttle is spring loaded to the center position you need to hold it down once the motors are started. The MK will jump up if you accidentally release the throttle.
Do not take off or land with vario on. (NOTE THIS)!!! As you can get a bouncing heli.

Thanks. For now it's "one man show" but in future I plan to have separate controls for heli and camera.

FailSafe activation by sgnal lost

Hello all!

I am using a Hott MX-20 TX and GR-24 RX. I have all the channels already occupiedas follows:

Poti1 - Alt. Hold
Poti2 - GPS PH/CH
Poti3 - CareFree
Poti4 - Camera Nick
Poti5 - Camera Roll
Poti6 - Function Motor Protection
Poti7 - Lanc Zoom
Poti8 - Lanc tigger

I want to implement the FailSafe and I have reading in the wiki FailSafe implementation, but, in spite of reading it several times it is still confusing to me. According what I understood I can activate the FailSafe using only the signal lostor activate is using a channel. I didn't setup the failSafe in the MX-20, so, when I turn it OFF the MK Fl_Ctrl red LED lights and it starts beeping as no TX signal. The PPMSUM signal at RX output looks like randon pulses, they do not follow the standard PPM frame, so, if I do not program the FailSafe I can use it as activating it by loss signal.
Looking for the MK Tools Misc. Menu I have the following:

"Emergency time [0.1s] value 90 "

" Emergency-Gas: %80" " [v] Use vario control for failsafe altitude (activated)"

" Failsafe CH time: 60 "
[s] 0-OFF

"Failsafe channel: [0] 0-OFF" (this means if no channel assigned the failsafe is not active?)

My question now is how to activate the failsafe by signal lost (not activated by channel)

Thanks in advace for your help.
Manuel

Goto settings, misc tabb, near the bottom is fail safe, set to 35 seconds and use 98% with Vario enabled. done.

Manuel, the MX-20, I beleive, doesn't support failsafe in sumppm, only traditional rx type.
