Hey Gary, 177 by Glenn was insane but if I remember right you were not too far behind him. Best I ever got mine at was 161 on dopplar so you guys would have smoked me in Vegas. With the new 65c and better batteries I'd be curious what it would take to get this bird into the mid 180's or possibly even 190

So are you planning a new Monster or have you got something else up your sleeve?

We missed ya in Vegas a couple years back. 177 is the speed to beat.
Love that nascar theme.

Somebody needs to get me one for Christmas.

If you showed, You would have probably been 3rd. I think I remembered CN saying his did 160, but he was having a baby or something, during Vegas.
I still have a Squall sitting here that is supposed to beat TS's 134 mph Squall. but we had probs with motor shafts breaking, and are still waiting to fly it agian. I think Cory's a bit afraid of it. It's a twitchy sucker at high power.
The HP 16 is such a sweet flyer, I'm gonna build another for sure. It's been two years, I think it would be cool to revisit this thing.

Won't be long now before Glenn pops in.

Oh yeah, it would again be a MONSTER

Another Monster huh? You going to use that 5 bladed fan on 6s from your video? 60k rpm at 2kw and over 4lbs of thrust should move this plane out nicely.

How fast was your F-16 with the 8 bladed fan? Sure sounds nice!

Nope. That (6) bladed fan is in here. Just waiting on being able to fly and video her.

The efflux RC F-16 was only doing 107. The video was made with a 3600kv motor on 4s. We havent revisited the speed with the 70mm unit as we moved on to build 3 different 90mm Skyworld powered jets and a few SAPAC composites.

valuehobby has a new EDF motor and fan on their site.

Claims 1000 grams of thrust. Thats about what I get with a Dons Cool wind 4000 and the SF fan. Is that possible?? It only is a 2700 Kv motor and Don's is 4000KV. What am I missing??

The HP F-16 needs to be built with this fan yet to be released.

An 80mm big block stroker. What would be a good motor/battery combo for a 3.5 min flight and two high speed passes?

We are going to need Air Sally to make an adapter for this fan housing.

The first one, with a 70mm, crashed to do an AR6100 lockout in a turn. That one never saw better than 142mph. The 173 mph bird was the second one with an 85mm fan.

Here's #1.

This is #2.
You can see the duct is quite large, as well as the tailpipe.
Since tailslide5 0 still kicked my butt with 70mm fan, You guys should limit the EDF size to 70mm to keep the cost down. I just like experimenting with different stuff. Win or loose, it's always fun.
or.....go nuts with it. It's good to see guys who play out side the box.
