No! Not at all. The manual for this kit only mentions and shows the 55mm fan I still don't know what motor I have here.. I'm not sure If I have the 3400kv or the 3800kv. Either way when I ran this motor and 70mm fan it was drawing more than 30amps. So the 30amp esc it comes with can not be used. To make a long story short I chose not to use the 70mm and I went with the 55mm fan and a wicked 5400. I am more than happy

Mine has black motor wires, silver and red outrunner, and 3 bladed fan. Draws 21.5 amps, at about 35,000 rpm on an old 3 cell lipo.

A video and some pictures are posted a little earlier in this thread http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...9#post16240128

I placed the fan so the end of the thrust tube was about even with the end of the tail pipe. It was about the manuals location for the 170 gram lipo. Placed receiver in manuals location, and 2500mah 3 cell lipo about 1 inch in front of the receiver.

The end of my tube isn't round, more of an oval shape. Is this a problem? Should I try to straighten it out or just not worry about it?

I would think that once you push your tube through the tail cone, it will take care of the shape problem. Just make sure you glue your tailcone on straight.

So if I wanted to build another P3 F16 but not glass it, not use the A/S fiberglass parts and run it on 3S, what fan/motor combo would be best? Could I get at least 80 mph out of it? I bet it would fly a little better than the brick I have now.

What fan would you use? 70mm or other?

Doesn't matter to me but that was part of my question. The only fan I currently own is an HET 6904 but I assumed that it wouldn't be good for the type of setup I was referring to.

FWIW I have one with Don's 5400 motor & fan combo, P40 ESC, running on 3 cell 2350 25C Rhinos. 18oz before battery. The local constablary clocked it at 103mph on his radar gun. I did use the morgan mills strakes and internal half duct. 50 plus flights, might be showing a wee bit of wear, particularly after doing an unscheduled touch & go at speed through goose s@#t!

I purchased mine 2 weekends ago from a lhs and got same 3 blade unit band black wired moter as Roto Rob. Date stamp on the price tag indicates the store received the kit in July. My fan tube was worse off, almost completly untaped. I just used clear packing tape to secure the long seam and to re-attach to the fan. No problems, got the maiden flight in last weekend using 3s battery.

OK Stats on the 4s 3blade squall fan that is going in the F-16s

4s 30c 1800mAh 16.7volts
350 watts WOT static
Only 31amps......

Sounds like this could use a light 5s...the esc is good for 45 amps

Here are some pics of the newest build

CF added to tailerons up to trailing edge of wing. This is going to be the mild 100mph version with HET 6904, Turnigy 2636-3200kv on 4s. I epoxied the lower fuse and cut into 3 pcs to access the fan when I wanna get STOOOOOPID.

How about some action here ladies and gents?

I would suggest putting some thin (2 or 3mm) depron over the wiring in front of the fan with a hole cut out for the esc to cool. It will make a huge difference reducing drag over the wires and hot glue. A large styrofoam cup would work well too. It's already shaped for you.

Stock motor/fan setup.

Quick question about the stock config... what should the stock exit diameter be? Ive upgraded mine and am helping a friend set up a different plane with my stock setup.
Thanks in advance.
Bryon

PS Ive changed the outlet diameter for my upgraded F16 and have forgotten the original diameter.
